Resolved: Lowes Rebates Sucks

4.1
Details
What a bunch of {{Redacted}} Damn it I'm so made I could spit. Did a small rebate submission online. Ya well after waiting a few weeks I'm now told the store I bought these items at did not participate in this program. Now the ironic thing thing is the store I bought this stuff from said they did participate, was within the time period, the store also gave me the form to submit but also suggested I do it online and told me what to do, which I followed to the letter.. Home Depot here I come again. At least Home Depot knows how to handle rebates and provide customer service the Lowes is again loosing out on my business since they dont know how to follow thru.

Consider any rebate you get a bonus. Read through the complaints about Home Depot, Menards and Lowes.

All will have complaints about rebates. For the most part they work but there will always be a few people that don't get their rebates for one reason or another.

Didn't sound like anyone was asking for help. They had washed their hands of Lowes and had moved on to Home Depot (until something goes wrong there).

Lowes - Steve Darling - Horrible Experience

1.0
Details

Update by user Sep 19

Now over a year later and I'm still very angry. I did get the fence guy whom Lowes sub contracted to admit that he broke and he said he filed it with Lowes.

I wonder if he was lying or if even worse Mr Darling was aware of this and didn't own up to it. I will never know.

Original review posted by user May 29, 2018

In a way I despise writing this because in doing so I am reliving an experience with Steve Darling that left a bad taste in my mouth. I am putting this out there for others. We have done a lot of business with Lowes through the years but given this experience we will be moving to a Lowes competitor which saddens me since they Lowes is headquartered in the Charlotte area and provides many local jobs. We paid Lowes for a fence installation and our water mane which is located under our driveway was broken, the driveway was badly marred, and grass was ripped up. I’d already bought the sod for the ripped up grass so this was not my primary complaint but wanted to make sure Lowes took ownership of the water mane and the driveway marring which was extensive. There were 2 fencing material drop offs (the first which was the 4 X4, and 4 X 6 posts, along with the 2 by 4’s; the second which was the fence pickets for a shadowbox) and I have VM’s to prove the 2 fence deliveries, a Charlotte Water Notice pamphlet that my water mane was broken, and pictures starting from the day the fence installers arrived onward to show the progression of my driveway. I told Stephen Darling that I believed the forklift (which he called a moffett) was responsible for the water mane brake. There are circular tire tracks in the vicinity of the water mane access lid and the fencing materials from one of the fence deliver drop offs was also in the vicinity of the water mane. I also shared pictures that demonstrate these. So all these taken together confirm to me that Lowes more than likely broke the water mane, marred my driveway, and beat up my grass. BTW the driveway which is a long driveway has marring in virtually every panel. How is that possible? Did they have a field day? These are circular tire tracks from the forklift (moffett) and an additional disc-like marring where I’m guessing the forklift hit the driveway. Prior to be assigned to Mr Darling, I contacted Lowes to report the issue which required many calls and emails (and 1 dropping by) to the local store. The issue wasn’t being moved forward for over a month and I was frustrated so I made additional calls to headquarters(??) and they assigned my issue to Mr. Darling. My second and last conversation with Steve Darling (after he was in receipt of pictures and the Charlotte Water Notice pamphlet), I noticed his tone of voice was rude and critical. I also had the impression was he was trying to get me to misstate the issue. I explained to him that I noticed water in my driveway after the fencing materials delivery and it took me a while to realize there was a water mane issue because it had been raining quite a bit. I said that I thought it was caused by the forklift (moffett). He asked several times if the moffett did the damage. I said that I believed it did but I did not have hard proof- I don't have any cameras to prove that it was the moffett and I was not present when the first set of fencing was dropped off and was only present towards the tail end of the second delivery of the lumber but that the timelines indicated circumstantial evidence. (He was already in receipt of many pictures prior to this conversation showing the fencing material, the distance between the fencing material and the water mane, and the tire track marring which was close to the water mane.) After this he said something like, "Do you really think the moffitt did this?" and something like "The water mane is 18 inches below, I don't see how a moffett could do this? The moffett weighs the same as a car (or maybe he said truck?)". (The only thing this line of questioning accomplishes in my opinion is to either try to make me say "Yes the moffett did it" which would not be true as I don't have "proof" or make me feel stupid for thinking the moffett did it. I do not know how much a mofett weighs but I’m curious to know what it weighs when is it hauling fencing material.) So repeated again that I have circumstantial proof only. My secondary issue was the circular tire marks are all over my driveway. He'd received pictures showing virtually every cement panel of my driveway had circular tire marks and there were at least 3 circular depression-like areas (I have seen more since the phone call) that looked like some metal had come into contact. He (in an accusatory tone) said that my driveway was dirty and there would be no way that the moffett could not leave tire marks. (Yes my driveway is dirty but no more dirty than most driveways and I quite like that it has a natural look to it until the marring which makes it look so very awful.) I said to then return the driveway back to how it was as before which looked better than having circular tire marks and disk like depressions. His tone of voice seemed mocking as he asked if I wanted Lowes to make it dirty again. To which I replied yes. He told me that one of the pictures was taken from a sidewalk or from Rea Rd and became defensive when I said he was making assumptions about where the pictures were taken from and that the picture was actually taken from my front stoop. This made him defensive and more argumentative. I told him at the end of the conversation he wasn't being objective and that he demonstrated he was already prejudiced, that I already knew he was going to deny the claim, and that I have recourse. To which he said in a mean tone of voice “We’ll see!” Several weeks later he sent an email to an email address which I previously told Mr Darling not to use. It says, “We have carefully considered the above mentioned claim and completed our investigation. Based upon the information we have obtained to date, it is our opinion that Lowe’s would not be held responsible for damages that you are claiming. Therefore, we are respectfully denying your claim and will close our file without payment. If you feel there is any other further evidence for us to consider, please submit the documentation by mail to my attention at the address below. “ and a PO Box in KY. I’m sorry Lowes but YOU NEED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP of the damages that you incur on people. I do not accept this behavior and nor should I! I own 4 problems that I didn’t create. Fixing my grass (done), buying/renting a power washer and cleaning my driveway (or hiring out), making sure my now ripped up driveway section (for the repair) is re-cemented, and possibly (??) dealing with a high water bill. One last thing, I did notice that there are 2 other reviewers with complaints who wrote that Mr Stephen Darling is rude. Interesting.

Lowes - Horrible customer service

I went to Lowe’s to purchase granite countertops. I forked over almost $1700 with the promise that someone would be over to measure my kitchen for the countertops before installation. No one called, I could not get anyone on the phone from Lowe’s, and I tried several times, and finally had to cancel my order. They were the worst store I’ve ever used and I will never step foot in there again.

Lowes - Rude associate

Went to the Lowes store in Worcester Mass. There was an associate that I asked to cut blinds for me. He was very helpful and polite. Another associate whose name I believe was Natalie was very rude and disrespectful to her fellow associate. I normally shop at this store because it is closer to my home and I prefer Lowes over Home Depot l.

Lowes - Next day delivery service at Lowe’s Online

3.8
Details
This Friday 25 May 2018 I purchased a grill from Lowe’s online and selected next day delivery, within minutes I received confirmation that my product would be delivered and assembled the same day 25 May in the afternoon. 3 hours later as I’m driving home I received a phone call from their delivery department saying that the product couldn’t be delivered until Rhe following Tuesday. This was purchased online from the Lowe’s in Middletown, DE. Because of my disappointment with the poor customer service I told the individual on the phone to cancel my order. I then drove to the Lowe’s in Bear, De and specifically asked the customer service rep if they were able to deliver and assemble the next day or at least by Sunday, she checked the system and assured me that if I purchased the grill and now I wanted to add outdoor furniture to the purchase they’d be delivered and assembled by Sun 27 May 2018. After selecting my preferred grill and our door furniture I checked out and left with the hopes that my purchases would arrive at my home by Sunday. On Saturday around 12pm I received a call from the delivery department ar Lowe’s in Bear, De and was told that my items could not be delivered because their assembly guy didn’t come to work today. I understand things happen, but I believe that’s poor management. I also canceled that order. I’ve used Lowe’s in the past for numerous items in my home and I must say I’m veey disappointed with the service I received this weekend. I would have been ok if it only happened at one of the stores but two different stores in two complete different city is bad business. Signed, Very unhappy customer Dead

Took 3 weeks to get a refrigerator delivered and it never arrived. Spent 6 hours waiting. Numerous phone calls to the store and also the delivery company, which meant hours on the phone. I was told several times it was on the truck, but driver was late. After reaching corporate Lowes i find out it was never put on the truck. Lie after lie from lowes customer service. Beyond furious with this shoddy service.

Lowes - Delivery set up charge

I ordered patio furniture and paid extra for it to be put together. Furniture arrived and they dropped it off and said that it was not on delivery order to put together. Called customer service and they said they would take off charge for putting it together. I should have just had them return it to store.

Lowes in Hamburg, Pennsylvania - Bad countertop installation by BC Stone

1.3
Details
BC Stone installed a quartz countertop Look good but when I had someone try to install the dishwasher the opening was 24" at the bottom and 23 3/4" at the top of the dishwasher space A dishwasher needs at least 23 7\8" which is a tight fit. What happened is the 30" cabinet at the end next to the dishwasher was twisted out of shape when they pushed the glued top to meet the splice at the sink. The cabinet is screwed into the studs and is level and when BC Stone torn off the old countertop they said all the cabinets are good, level and secure for the installation. Lowes is blaming it on my cabinets not being fastened to the studs and my cabinet probably moved on the wall, well nothing moved on the wall because they were installed by a contractor and were done right. These are high quality hickery cabinets made by Showplace wood products in Harrisburg PA. Lowes keeps spewing out info on their bogus contract that they are not responsible for the cabinets. This my first of many remodeling projects to come.
