Lowes in Glenville, New York - Beware of measurement

2.2
Details
Got a free measurement at Lowe’s shortly after Xmas. Was told 910 ft. Went to local carpet store and was quoted at 760 ft. My own measurement with 10% waste was 750 ft- for what it is worth. Beware, this I how Lowesmakes up for their “less expensive” prices

Their measurement for my home was very close to what I had expected. When it came time for installation the installers reviewed the measurements and determined due to the cuts required they would run short in the stairs.

Lowes ordered the additional carpet required at their expense. Seems like an honest company to me.

Lowes - Bad Job Done

1.0
Details
Had Kitchen Remodeled, Popcorn Ceiling Taken Off In Living Room & Kitchen. Went To Lowes In 2016, Late May Talked To Salesman For Complete Kitchen Remodel, Had Waited For Him To Start & Finish His Home Advisor Schooling. Signed Contract In Dec 2016,Was Suppose to start In Jan 2017 The 3rd and Completed The 6th . Did Not Start until Late Jan. Of Us Today Feb 18, 2018 Still Not Completed Right, Paid 33,000 For This Job, Bought Appliances From Another Company For 4,000. Told This Would Be A Dream Kitchen, Home Advisor Did A Poor Job Into Designing My Kitchen, Wanted More Cabinet Space Got Less. Ceiling Was A Really Poor Job Of Painting, Blotches All Over. Cabinets Kraft Maid Had Flaws On Most Of The Doors And So Much More Done Poorly. Called Corporate Center Twice, They Returned Call And Said Someone From Lowes Would Be Over To Take Pictures And Fix What Ever Was Not Done Right. Lowes Had Three Different People To Come And Do Such. Said They Would Jump On This Right Away. Home Advisor Has Never Did A Final review Or Apologise For The Job That Was Done So Bad. Last Designer was Suppose To Come Over The 5th of Feb And Fix Things That Were Not done Right, Still as Of Today No One Appeared! Do Not Go To Lowes For Any Improvement, If You Do Think A 33,000 Kitchen Will Be Out Of this World, Come See My Kitchen Or I Do Have Pictures!

Lowes - If you see "STEVE DARLING" RUN IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION (or request for someone different)

I had Steve Darling as my examiner. The WORST experience ever. On top of being rude, short, not answer any of my questions directly, he had the nerve to ignore some of my emails. He absolutely NEVER answered any of my phone calls and makes me never EVER want to shop at Lowes again. Just for the mere fact that if a Lowes employee were to damage my car in the future, I want to lessen my chances of ever communicating with STEVE DARLING. I even asked to change my examiner, and he still ignored my request. My case is still not resolved by the way, it's been several weeks. One time I even had to ask him politely not to reply back in a short sentence, he replied back in two sentences instead. Another time I asked for a yes or no answer from a very straight forward question and asked him to reply "yes or no" and he still couldn't even do that. I am SHOCKED with the quality of care from a management department. At the very least he can take out the Lowe's slogan in his signature block that states "Never Stop IMPROVING" because he clearly has no motive to improve. Sorry Lowes, Home Depot from now on. All thanks to Steve.

LOWES WON'T ALLOW RETURN OF TILE WITHOUT A RECEIPT

2.9
Details
I bought 3 boxes of bullnose tiles for a bathroom project. I changed my mind about using bullnose tiles and decided to use extruded trim instead. Tried to return the tiles without a receipt because I can't find it. Lowes will not accept the return - won't even give me store credit for them. I emailed their refunds account: refunds@lowes.com and got no satisfaction from them either. No reason other than: "we require a receipt for return of that item." The boxes are pristine and the tiles are not used or broken. So, I'm out $60 and am very unhappy.

I have the same issue with the purchase of cabinets-I applied for the rebate via the website, once the store's department head sent it in, I sent it in via fax at the request of the rebate center and now was told to send it in via snail mail. I will be sure to tell all my friends to avoid Lowes if considering a purchase with a rebate.

Lowes - Kitchen Renovation

2.2
Details
Never ever will I deal or recommend Lowes. Two month project took over 6 months. Contractors came only when they felt like it. Had to have hard wood feathered into place a where they removed a small island. Totally screwed the floors up. The wood was no cured to th houses temperature. Contractor received it the day before he came to laId it in needless to say the wood shrunk. Had some sand and stain looked worse . Went higher up and they decided to pay for replacing the whole floor and reimbursing is for the sanding and staining. Hired some one to do the job Lowes paid but renigged on the previous sanding and stain reimbursement. Which I have in writing. Received appliances fridge had a dent they said they will reorder, they did. Received the second one dent again. Again they were to reorder. I waited 2 weeks and checked to see if it was order the told me it was and due in mid Feb. Called today to find out it was never ordered. Head contractor Alan useless. Never made a phone to let me know when they were coming, it was always me texting to find out the schedule. They work 5-6 projects at a time do beware if you ever decide to use Lowes. Horrible customer service, lack of communication. The higher up you go they don’t care they just brush you off. Unhappy customer.

2 stars is really nice of you. We ordered and paid in full for custom kitchen cabinets from Lowe's 294 days (OVER 9 MONTHS!!!) ago and so far, it has cost us more than $10,000 beyond what we agreed to pay.

There has been so many problems it's not even funny.

The craftsmanship has been horrid, 4 of the cabinets needed replaced due to the installers. They've also managed to break 2 brand new appliances, run over my mailbox and STOLE STUFF FROM MY TOOLBOX (Yes, I have video footage).

Lowes - Lowe's Bait & Switch Advertising

1.5
Details
Advertising Sale Price for Blinds: main page displays allan roth Light Filtering 24"x 36" shades at 30% off for $39.19. When you click on the picture the shade price still advertises $30.19. When you click on customize and buy, the price changes to $85.38 per shade. I called Lowe's and was told to "drill down" into the shopping process to find the shade size that matches the advertised price of $30.19. That shade size in 9"x12". This is a clear bait and switch. The main page advertises 24"x 36" allen roth light filtering shades as $39.19 ea but the actual check out price is $85.38 ea for that size. After doing two home remodels and all of my appliance purchases at Lowe's I've seen their customer service and advertising tactics decline in recent years. Time to take my business elsewhere.

Blinds are always advertised for the smallest available size. Do you think anyone would be attracted to the sale if they advertised the largest size available when their competitors advertise the smallest?

These advertisements are not created in a vacuum people! These people know the laws and abide by them pretty well.

If they didn't they would be shut down by the legal system pretty quickly. A mis-understanding by you is not a bait & switch tactic by Lowe's.

If the price is for the smallest size blind, that is the size they should list as well.

Legal and ethical are not the same thing. Their advertising tactics are, by definition, are a bait and switch maneuver.

Nowhere in the advertisement does it state that the size of the blind connected to the posted sale price is the smallest blind available. In fact, the size posted that is connected to the sale price is a much larger blind. The service person on the phone couldn't even figure out why the pricing didn't match. He was as confused as I until his supervisor explained the "drill down" step that needed to happen.

This predatory sales technique is only changed by challenging the action.

bait-and-switch

noun

the action (*generally illegal*) of advertising goods that are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods.

"a bait-and-switch scheme"

Lowe's knows exactly what they are doing.

Lowes in Charter Township Of Clinton, Michigan - Terrible Customer Service

1.3
Details
Horrible customer service at this Lowe's location (35115 S Gratiot Ave, Charter Twp of Clinton, MI 48035) My family moved from IL to MI last year (May 2017). We did a few small and large projects for the house, including replacement of the door locks. Unfortunately, I did not use one of the lock I purchased from Lowe's on June 26, 2017. After we completed most of the projects to make our stay comfortable; we started to return un-used items. I came to return a lock, un-opened box and with the receipt to Lowe's from where I purchased the lock. Unfortunately, Lowe's denied the return due to 90 days return policy. I asked for the store manager and explained the situation of my move and multiple parallel projects was the reason for the delay! I also provided an option for the store credit in-lieu refund. It was to my surprise that store manager came across rude and insisted in 90 days return policy and provided no other options. I would stay away from this particular store. I have returned many unused items with or without receipts at different locations without any issue. This store manager needs to move on ...

I expect that you will find the lock has been discontinued as a stock item. They have a 90 day return policy because they don't have shelf space for discontinued product.

Discontinued products are discounted to sell and there is no reason they should have to take a product back that you have had sitting around the house for so long and take a loss on it. You should have returned it 6 months ago.

As a Lowe's employee, we agree. Don't buy online. Our software for online fulfillment is garbage and we really don't have any way to make it better for you.
