Lowes Bathroom Remodeling Review from Somerville, Tennessee

1.3
Details
I like the other customers contracted a bathroom improvement from Lowe's. The date this project started was in January 2016 and April was the finishing date. Well it is May 2 and my bathroom has mixed matched cabinet doors and fronts despite the fact I payed for custom built cabinets. Shower and tub plumbing is still not complete. Glass shower is not installed and something as simple as painting has not yet been done. I don't know when this project will be finished but to any and everyone who is considering using Lowe's for anything except buying plants and pest control, my advice is do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Don't fall for the scam that you have 48 months to pay for it because it will be 48 months before they finish the job....if you are lucky.

Lowes in Dacono, Colorado - He past

1.1
Details
Over the past 5 days from 4/26 through today, 4/30 I have gone to the Lowes store at New Center Point 5 times and have been served by 4 different plumbing "Associates". All I needed was a way to connect a new kitchen faucet to 3/8" PEX and I have done this many times before using Shark *** products. The 4 associates tried to sell me valves I did not need and 3 things instead of 1. Today when I went back for the final time the plumbing associate I saw yesterday saw me and walked away. This is terrible customer service. I have never received such terrible customer service at Home Depot or Ace hardware. This Lowes need to teach their associates the correct way to fix things instead of constantly trying to upsell customers things they do not need.

If you know what you needed why did you ask 4 associates for help? It doesn't sound like you bought what they were "trying to sell you." Did you ever stop to think that they may have been right and that if you bought what they were "trying to sell" you that you wouldn't have had to make 5 trips to the store?

I'd walk away from you too if you had waisted my time yesterday by ignoring my advise. I am sure I could find someone else to help that will listen to what I had to say.

Go to a local plumbing and heating company. You cannot expect the sales personnel at big box stores to know anything other than how to get in touch with their feelings as they have been taught in today's public schools.

The parts guy in a local plumbing company is required to know what he is selling. Good luck.

Lowes in Saint Paul, Minnesota - Fool me once, shame on you. . .fool me twice, shame on me!

3.4
Details
I should have followed that old adage in purchasing from Lowes. In the first experience, I purchased a refrigerator to be delivered. The guys who showed up with it were not strong enough to carry it up our stairs. My husband happened to come home as they struggled and had to assist them with the delivery. The walls and stairs were scratched while doing so. This past winter I purchased a new Whirlpool water softener. It was delivered, installed and old softener removed. The technician asked me if I would like to use the remaining water softener salt from the old unit. I said yes. He added that to the new unit, which was a somewhat smaller unit. In checking the salt level a couple months later, it was at the very top. I called Whirlpool to ask about this. They told me the old salt should never have been used and that the softener should only be filled 1/3 of the way up otherwise it will harden - which it did. They told me to fix that by adding hot water daily and recharging after that to make the salt loosen. I called Lowes thinking they would want to know that this was not done properly by the installer. The blame was shifted to the local manufacturer/installer. He said they should not have done that but why didn't I just scoop out all the loose salt and throw it away? I'm wondering why I would have to do anything to fix an improperly installed appliance! The Lowe's rep also wanted to blame me because I admitted the tech had asked me if I wanted to reuse the salt and I said yes. This causes what they call "bridging" (or salt hardening) and apparently I was supposed to know that so it was my fault for saying go ahead and use the old salt? His only response was that he would file a report and send to the installer and have them contact me. Because - it wasn't Lowes's problem. . . .hmm. . . my credit card says I purchased it from them!

Pros
  • Product was fine
Cons
  • Installation department
  • Improper installation

Preferred solution
I am unhappy with how the installation dept responded to my report. I wasn't asking for anything. I just thought they would want to know that an installation was not incorrectly. Lowe's didn't want any part of the blame.

Lowes Flooring Department Review from Houston, Texas

1.7
Details
We had a terrible experience with the flooring department at the tomball location. After a couple of weeks and 6 revised estimates (all of which increased each time) we have given up on this store installing our floor. All we wanted was 2000 square feet of wood looking tile installed like their instore sample and they couldn't handle it. Never again with lowes. I would recommend staying away from this store

Lowes contracts Thieves

Lowes hired a subcontractor to install carpet in my home. I left the workers alone at my home for around 1.5 to 2 hours and I returned home to find my refrigerator had been stolen. I immediately contacted the subcontractors supervisor and he stated that he does not believe his workers would steal. I filed a police report. Then I contacted Lowes and the subcontractor's business, once again and they were very unhelpful and practically refused to assist me and would not accept responsibility. They said, "Let the police complete their investigation and find your refrigerator." This is just unbelievable! I will never use their services again!!! Lowes hires AND allows criminals to work in your home!

Lowes in Monroe, New York - IS THERE ANYBODY HERE TO HELP ME ?

Lowes (and Home Depot) never seem to have anybody in the departments to help you.You stand around a department waiting then an associate says ill get you someone and you continue to wait wait wait. Also, Lowes in Chester NY use a very poor shipping company. It took 5 weeks my flooring order to come in and the shipping company said t 1) we will only keep your order foe 2 weeks, after that you have to pay storage fees & we need 48 hours notice for a change of delivery date. At least they make it cohesive to match up w the poor customer service in their stores.

Lowes in Yuma, Arizona - Water Heater

3.4
Details
Bad, I did not buy this heater myself my neighbor did and installed it for us (my husband and I), the heater has also been a headache. It could keep the water heated and would turn off and I had to go and light the pilot over and over my neighbor would come and check the wiring and could find anything wrong, I finally went to Lowe's because It is a Whirlpool and asked the salesman what would be wrong with this heater since it was about 2 years old. He mentioned the thermocouples. I bought one and maybe this will help. I am tired of lighting this sucker everytime I take a long bath or shower.

You didn't mention the brand. Ordinarily, you should contact the manufacturer when under warranty.

Is it? Check your paperwork and see what the time frame is for warranty work.

This is why it is a good idea to buy a water heater from a local plumbing company---not a big box store. Good luck, but check the warranty as the time period is different for different parts of it.

Lowes Customer Care Review from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I just came from the Warrington,Pennsylvania Lowe's and did not have a great experience. I wanted to buy several bags of mulch and was looking for one of the flat steel carts. I went to several of the staff and asked where they were and I was told go out the parking lot and find one. The cashier in the garden center was not friendly and was not open to my suggestion that someone bring some carts in from the parking lot for people to use. Aaron Drellich, store manager, this is an issue you should address.

How many carts did you walk by in the parking lot that you could have grabbed knowing you would need one, and possibly there might not be one available in the store?
