Lowes gives veterans a hard time about veteran discounts

This is great that Home Depot is eating Lowes lunch. I'm a volunteer Vietnam veteran and when I pull my driver's license (which clearly states that I'm a veteran) at Lowes for a minor veteran's discount the kids working at Lowes who don't know anything about the armed forces refuse to accept my ID while Home Depot gladly honors it. That's why I do all my hardware shopping at Home Depot. Keep up the good work guys. It's the little things that count.

I think this is a store by store problem. I use the branch in Saratoga Springs NY, and the staff always give me a discount, along with a cheerful "thanks for your service".

he branch at nearby Clifton Park can be problematical though.

It's Lowe's policy to accept the DD214 (which is what the drivers license status indicates) only on Memorial Day, Veterans Day and 4th of July http://www.lowes.com/cd_In-Store+Services_745829091_

Hopefully Lowe's sees all these negative comments from people who should have better things to do with their time than complain about a few cents and axes the discount altogether.

I always thought vets were tougher and deserved my respect but I have to wonder with all this crying about not getting a little discount in a retail store.

Lowes in Brooklyn, New York - Delivery is horrible

I ordered a washer and dryer. I was told of a delivery date 2 weeks away. They confirmed delivery the night before the delivery date and gave me a window between 3 and 5 pm. At 6.30 pm on the day of the delivery, I got a message that they had a flat tire and they rescheduled delivery for the next day. The next day, I get a call at 6 am from jersey city store that the driver will be calling me at some point today to schedule the delivery. I inform them that the building does not allow deliver after 5 pm (which I had informed them earlier on many occasions). I call every 2 hrs to see what the status of my delivery is, I am told they will be contacting me shortly, this goes on till the end of the day. No delivery I had to cancel the people that I had asked to come to install the washer/dryer.Then I get an e mail that the washer/dryer has already been delivered (when it has not been delivered). Horrible people, horrible customer service and horrible delivery. Will never order from them again.

Lowes in Phoenix, Arizona - Unfriendly and no customer service at all!

I just purchased pavers, and heavy bags of rocks; the cashier was impatient with my credit card not registering in her machine-she didn't know if it should be inserted with the chip, or not-she only cared about being in a hurry to go to lunch! Did not care to ask for someone to help me load the material in my car - no help, and very unfriendly. If Home Depot carried the same material, I would never go to Lowe's!!!

I'm a cashier at lowes and I'm sorry that you received poor customer service in your store. Not all cashiers are slackers like this one.

Please don't let one bad experience ruin your views on lowes. I love my customers and go out of my way to make their shopping experience enjoyable.

Lowes - Levolor Blinds Review from Hopkins, Minnesota

Details
Ordered blinds with Lowes 50% off sale in Dec. of 2015. It is now Feb 19th and still no blinds. We have been given 7 different ship dates followed with 7 excuses. The latest is they don't know where they are after tracking shows they shipped on Feb 3rd. I think it's class action lawsuit time.

What are you going to sue for? They don't make the blinds in the back room of the store.

All they can give you for a due date is what the manufacturer tells them. Nowhere in your complaint do you say that you asked for a refund.

If the delay was so aggravating, most people would ask to cancel the overdue order and have their money refunded. Until you do this and they refuse, you have not lost any money and won't win in court.

Things didn't go right! They didn't have 100% of the answers, immediately...

I should file a law suite.

So, I'm sure you are aware, that until the product actually touches the ground of the physical store, most employes only have estimations as to where your items are.

Usually "estimated" dates PROVIDED by the manufacturer of the product.

I'm almost positive that the blinds that... NATION WIDE went 50% got back ordered to due the high volume of sales...

If you were to of bought them during a standard NON DISCOUNT point in time, your wait would of probably been far less lengthy.

On the last note, no matter what you think, I have worked on the floor and in the installed sales world of Lowe's for years. Those "provided" dates often change, most times daily. If they aren't important enough to buy at full price you don't need them right away.

but go ahead be a typical greedy, needy American and sue.

I mean you are entitled to it after all. Thanks

Lowes in Chester, Virginia - RE: QUESTION on FRIGIDAIR DISHWASHER

Home owners trust all items to replace a product will be with when purchase so DO YOU DO THIS?? We purchased a DISHWASHER 2.18.16 To install today 2.19.16. When beginning the install there was no adapter fitting for the water line! Another trip to the store after checking a nearby one that did not have the part so had to go all the way back to Lowes and BUY a part to fit the replacement item. Please respond with WHERE ON the box that it is necessary to buy something else, or if the place one is purchased is to inform customers of this when selling one! Thank you. Another thought....mention it in your ads!

You forgot to mention that the water line and power cord didn't come with the dishwasher either. The store has nothing to do with what the manufacturer prints on the box.

It appears that you just assumed that everything was in the box. I bet if you had asked, rather than assuming, you would have been sold an installation kit for the dishwasher. You can bet if you bought the dishwasher at at store that paid their salespeople on commission they would have suggested the kit to boost their commission.

Big box stores don't pay on commission to keep their prices low. When you shop a big box store you shouldn't expect the same level of service that you would get in a specialty store.

Lowes in Port Saint Lucie, Florida - I am being charged a late fee for the month of January altho I did not receve billing for that month

I made a 6 month promotional purchase on 7/2/15 for an amount of $568.00.Upon reeving your monthly bills I payed $95.00 per month to my account at the Synchrony bank. In the month of December I had reduced my indebtedness to you to $14.40. I expected to clear my account with you in the month of January. I did not receive January billing from you which would have keep me within the terms of the promotional sale agreement. Instead, I received your February billing for $14.40 and YOUR FEE charges of an $14.40. and, a reminder that my account payment is past due. Today, I shell make a $28.80 payment to the Synchrony bank. I think your fee charges are inappropriate and should be returned to me. Please advise. Thank you. Upon your request I shell fax to you my current bill from you.

I have received Veteran's discounts from numerous Lowe's in Virginia. Unfortunately Farmville Lowe's does not HONER Veteran's that served. they only honor Vet's that are retired only, not Vet's that served. My Military Card expired, I was instructed to get anew validation from the D.M.V. FARMVILLE does not Honor this from of I.D. SHAME SHAME!!!!!! I hope Lowe's Headquarter take's this Matter Serious, and instructs FARMVILLE VA. to Honor what all the other Lowe's in Virginia Honor. Thank you for looking into this matter. William R. They do honor vets of all types on certain holidays. They do give out the discount for all Active and Retired 365 days a year.

And even then I have a problem with it because of their abuse of it. The discount is supposed to be for personal use. A lot of the people with the military ID's are using it to get a discount for their business', and when you call them out you're the bad guy for "Not supporting your troops". And the other way they abuse it is coming in an making large purchases for the friends, people who didn't serve.

Tell me, when do Depot give a military discounts? Only on Memorial Day, Quatro De Julio, and Veterans Day.

Who else gives out Military Discounts on a daily basis? Not many.

But FUQ Lowe's for not giving each and every single person, who have out on a uniform, a 10% discount 365 days a year, right? ***

while i don't work at lowe's i do work retail and i can tell you this, these types of complaints really chap my hide.

so sick of people complaining of not receiving such a pitiful amount off and then having to play the "service" card by stating they served in such & such an area and all that.

why should only veterans get discounts whether the policy says certain days or all the time? there are just as many other jobs and professions that are just as honorable and deserving of our respect and they don't get a discount while shopping.

The dd214 is only honored on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veteran's Day. That's Lowe's policy and the store was following it. The rest of the stores in Virginia that were accepting that form of ID (which I highly doubt) are in violation, and will probably get in trouble for it.

But I am really sorry you didn't get a dollar off your purchase.

Lowes in Amarillo, Texas - Atrocious customer service

I opened a Lowe's Accounts Receivable credit line. I've spent over two thousand dollars this past month. On Tuesday, February 16, 2016, I purchased 3 8-ft pieces of crown molding at the store in Amarillo on Coulter. One of the pieces of crown had a 45 degree angle cut on the end. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I needed 19 linear feet and the three pieces were more than I needed. Plus, the remaining pieces in the bin were nicked up and unsuitable. The crown was not going to work in my renovation project, so I took them back the next day for a refund. Because the one piece had a cut on the end, the employee at the service desk called for Ryan, the manager of millworks. Before even hearing any explanation from me, Ryan says he can't accept the piece back. No refund. He said he wouldn't put a piece of crown in that condition in the bin. Well, apparently one of his employees had done just that, despite his claim that "I would never sell a piece in that condition." His whole demeanor and tone was very gruff and unfriendly. He tells me "Show me where you got it." We walk through the store to the back and I point out the bin. He again denied that Lowe's sells crown in that condition. I ask him if he thinks I bought 3 8-ft pieces of crown, cut of half a foot of one piece, and returned them? I ask him if he thinks I'm a liar? He says "I didn't say that." On the way back to the service desk, he "graciously" says he can give me 1/2 the price back. The employee at customer service says the computer will not let him return 1/2 the price of an item. No return. I'm only out $10.06 + tax. But it's the principle that matters. This is atrocious customer service. Ryan's inability to admit the possibility that his department made a mistake and his attitude have cost you a customer. There are other stores with better customer service and more helpful employees. I will never shop Lowe's again.
