Junk pine bark nuggets

I have bought pine bark nuggets for many years, often from Lowe's. I bought four bags yesterday. When I opened the bags, I could not believe the huge size of the bark - gigantic really. They were pretty useless, but I was stuck in the middle of a gardening project. And there were strips and long pieces of tree among them that were like the stuff I have to pick up in my yard and garden after a storm. I don't expect to pay for the stuff that I put in the yard waste bin for garbage pick up!

Any time I've bought this type of product it came in a clear bag and you could easily see what it looked like before you purchased or opened the bag.

Guest

OP:

Since the pine bark nuggets are shipped to Lowes in bags, exactly how is Lowes supposed to have quality control on the products they sell?

The manufacturer of the product does quality control since the manufacturer makes the product.

So complain to the manufacturer about this.

Another Customer Lowes can care less about.

I also bought a water softer, it lasted about a year. I bought a 4 year warranty with it. When it went bad, they offer only the money of the product I bought. When I bought it, they said it was a service contract, but they do not offer service in my area. Now that it is broke, they only want to replace the product with a gift card to their store and I will have to pay for the delivery fee and the service contact all over again. Hmm. Something that should not cost me a thing to replace is now costing me $$$$$. That is the biggest scam to consumers I have ever seen. What a markup to charge a customer for a product they had a service contract on. Buyer beware of the warranties. I don't know now what to do, because I still need a water softer, but don't have the money to pay for delivery and purchase the new agreement. I don't believe I should have too. What do you think customers?

no product defect warranty, which is what you have, covers shipping and installation. Just for the replacement of the product itself.

That is the way the law is written. Why would they go above and beyond what the law stipulates, especially when they have people crawling over themselves to shop there?

Guest

I'd take time to read over your contract. Most of them cap the cost of repairs they will do at the purchase price of the item.

As they can't repair it, they are giving you the full purchase price of the water softener. Sounds reasonable to me. Not much different than car insurance. If it costs more to repair than to replace, they give you the value of the car.

You still have to get new license plates and a new insurance policy. I'd be happy they are giving me my money back.

My husband ordered a stand for his Dewalt saw, and instead they sent a garage door opener. He called the company and they sent him a return label... for UPS. We live on the Sunshine Coast of BC (NOT THE ISLAND), and there is no drop off for UPS residential parcels. We were therefore going to be charged for them to pick it up from our house. Look it up on UPS, the closest point is in Vancouver. Customer service wouldn't listen and just assumed we were on Vancouver Island and said there was a drop off point nearby. I have to take a ferry to get to the nearest drop off point, which would be around $80 and take most of my day. Not impressed.

Did you have a receipt? Were they new or had they been used?

The manufacturers have cracked down on what stores can take back under warranty. Far too many people were abusing warranties on tape measurers. Warranties cover defects not damage. You'd be surprised at how many people would tear a tape or rip the tip off and want to "exchange it" as a defect.

A torn tape is not defective.

It has been abused and damaged. If it's damaged, it's time to buy a new one.

Poor, not very responsive, no sense of urgency

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Ordered and fully paid for a Pergo laminate floor to be installed for 2 guest rooms before the arrival of our guests for Thanksgiving. Delivery men would not deliver pallet of flooring inside house - left it in cold garage for week and a half before I could get it into the proper rooms to acclimate. Had to aggressively call and chase down installers to set date for installation that was convenient for THEM. Bottom line, not installed before Thanksgiving. We had to cancel Thanksgiving family dinner because we had no place to sleep long distance visitors. Very pissed off. Still trying to get return calls from store and department managers to resolve. The only response I got was from a trucker who tried to pick up the flooring from the house at 7:30am one morning this week. No reference to the $4330 of my money they are still holding. Beware, management at this store is not very responsive.

Most deliveries from home centers are off the back of the truck unless you make arrangements and pay extra to have product brought into the house. You shouldn't have waited to get it inside if thats where you wanted it. I doubt you are the only customer on the schedule for installation and they shouldn't be expected to bump someone else to get your job done.

Lowes store credit "new policy"

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Lowe's has made it very difficult to purchase items and return them. I recently worked on a project where we purchased multiple items not sure which we needed. When we returned unused items with receipts, Lowe's put each item on a separate store credit requiring me to produce my license to do this. I now have 12 Lowe's store credits because they refused to put them on 1 card. When I tried to use these separate store credits to purchase items for a new project, they said they could not honor them without my license. This is outrageous - this allows them to track my purchases and forces me to show my license to clerks! I complained to Lowe's corporate who said they would "make note of my complaint". I told them I wanted a reply so they had the store manager call me only to be told by manager it was new corporate policy.

You are a liar. If you actually had your receipts, they would be able to refund to the original purchase tender.

That is unless your original purchase was with store credits, in which case you are still a liar.

Why are you so unnerved by providing your license in the first place?

You do realize that you are not owed a refund without a receipt in the first place, right? The policy of issuing store credit with a license is a courtesy, NOT an entitlement.

No problems

After reading most of the comments on this site I have to wonder why all you people think Lowe's and Depot installation pricing is a scam. Both companies have very clear signage in their stores as to what's covered for the BASIC installation. Beyond that, it's the customers responsibility to ask the salesperson all the questions and find out what the extra fees are. If you want to check on the accuracy of the measurement, then very simply get a tape measure and do the math !!! Just remember, any carpet with a pattern has to be matched in certain areas and will need more "extra" carpet than one without a pattern. As with any other project, it's always safe to add an extra 10% on to any material needed, you paid for it and if you want to keep it just ask for it. I have done almost a hundred house renovations over the past 10 years and have exclusively used Lowe's. While occasionally there have been some installation problems.... which they have stood behind 100%.....by far I'm more than satisfied with not just the installation services but their professionalism as well.

Installed Feb. 2017. Kitchen and utility room. Ripped out, June 2017. Installation error caused water damage including black mold to baseboards and drywall. Situation: Purchased Geospring Water Heater from Lowes in 2012. Very satisfied. Similar to an AC unit, these drain condensation through a condensation line. Code requires drain. Installer installed vinyl planks over the portion of the drain needed for the condensation. This caused water to go onto the floor, then under the baseboards, then under the floating floor and through the kitchen. Because of the location, I did not realize the problem for 4 months. Who would think a floor installation could cause a leak? Baseboards had some mold, but drywall had terrible black mold. Floor was ruined. A swimming pool underneath. Insurance company sent restoration out, they ripped up the floor, sealed the utility room until the mold issue was resolved. Between my deductible, and new seepage rules, 14 days to notify insurance company, even if concealed. I will be paying this myself. Lowes never came down to inspect. I am not handy. But, if I was installing a floor, and saw a black open end tube over a drain, I would not put a floor over any part of the drain. Will be going to court. Photos are of black tube blocked and open.

Never use the stores installers. Lowe’s and Home Depot Installers are usually not licensed.

So that makes them Jake legs.

We have gone behind and cleaned up their messes more than once. Their products are of a lesser quality.

HORRIBLE

Delivery!!!!!! Lowes has a policy with delivery that they start in Pittsburgh and they work their way back to cranberry. So if you live a half a mile from the Lowe's in cranberry you have to wait all day long to receive your merchandise. Then, if it's raining or the guys are running behind schedule forget about it The delivery guys are supposed to call you when they are on their way you wait all day long and they never call and then you have to call the store and get in touch with somebody at the store and you get put on hold and you get disconnected. Very very very dissatisfied with the way that they have their delivery set up even when you please request that you get your delivery early too bad too sad this is the way we do things we go to Pittsburgh and we work our way back . They have no consideration for the customer what so ever and you know if I have to purchase another item from Lowe's that has to be delivered I will think twice in fact I won't do it at all I will go to another store. And it's not because of the store it's not because of your prices it's because of your delivery system.

Do you think zig zagging back and forth through the delivery area is more efficient? If you were the last load scheduled you would get it even later due to the extra miles put on during the day because they weren't doing deliveries in the order of distance from the store. Seem like some people just look for a reason to complain.

There are several stores that take pride in good service, I'm wondering what Lowes Corp would say to your "anonymous"

Never get any fences installed from Lowes

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My pain started with Lowes last year in May. As usual the sales person was ready to get me signed of on the fence project as soon as possible which I signed in early May. They started billing me from May for the whole project (parts and installation) as they convinced me to buy the Lowed Credit card which offered financing. The parts was delivered in about 3-4 weeks and then I had to wait another couple of weeks like mid July to start the install. The contractors who Lowes hired were so unprofessional and unexperienced to get this job done right the first time and they did not put the fence on the right property line and had to restart again. Now the panels were not poured enough concrete (see pics). Even after showing them the location of the underground sprinklers, they punctured the pipes and now they were focusing on fixing the pipes. Finally, they managed complete the install (which looks wobbly and unstable now instead of a straight line) by September and during all this time I had fence parts, screws, nails on my driveway. Not to mentioned they mixed concrete on my freshly seal coated driveway which now has concrete on it (see pics). Now for the best part, the sales guy told me the fence is supposed to be warranted for lifetime and can withstand Hurricane Katrina winds. Fortunately (unfortunately for Lowes) for me we had a winter with heavy winds (and these are not Hurricane force winds) and 2 of the panels broke and needs replacement and there are gaps between the panels which defeats the purpose of an opaque fence. Fortunately for me I was under the one year of Labor warranty so I was eligible to get this replaced at no cost. I called them in March to get this done and its now June and nothing has been done so far inspite of calling every other week with an assurance someone will get back and till now no ETA for getting it fixed. And now I am told those fences are out of production and will need to wait more to see what they can do. Why would you put fences that would go out of production in less than a years time? I have paid close to 7K thinking that Lowes is a bigger company and will stand behind their work and product instead of getting this done by a local contractor whose estimate was close. Will be taking this matter to social media, BBB and local AG Office for the way I have been taken for granted as its been very frustrating. I am sorry if this post is too long but wanted to save people their hard-earned money than going to these unprofessional to get any of home projects done by Lowes. So the lesson learnt it DONT EVER TRUST LOWES WITH YOUR HOME PROJECTS AS THEY DONT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK !!!!

DELIVERY SYSTEM

The current Lowes delivery system has major issues. Ordered items online and honestly expected a few days delay in intems being delivered ( area hit by Harvey). What I didn't expect was a delivery system trying to have parts of my order delivered from 3 differnt stores with on being over 50 miles. one at 45 miles and the closest is 25 miles from me. Then i have 4 different calls from the system telling me a time for the items to be delivered and no truck has shown up yet. the closest store had all the items except 2 in stock and I paid $108 for this system to waste my time and cost me money.

Lowe's Refused to Install LVT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had Lowe's quote LVT in one room (currently has carpet) and two bathrooms (both have linoleum). Lowe's contractor came out, took measurements, went through the scope of work, and provided us with a quote. SIX WEEKS later the product finally came in, the install was scheduled, installer showed up and within 10 minutes said the floor was not level. This is unacceptable. I paid for Lowe's to send out a qualified contractor, signed a contract, now Lowe's will not honor the contract. I have spoken to numerous Lowe's employees, trying to get resolution, and NO ONE returns my calls. I have since contacted a contractor that I know personally, and he leveled my floor, took him approximately 2 hours. he said that he believes that Lowe's just did not want to do the work, that my floor was very level, just a little compound needed in a couple of areas. Lowe's still has my money, has not returned my call since my last message (3 weeks ago). I think it's the old bait and switch routine, I bought the product yet they refuse to install due to being held liable for the warranty. Now I have no warranty, which is the reason why I contracted with Lowe's to begin with. I am not only extremely angry, but now more disappointed that Lowe's NEVER returned my calls, even after promising they would. Unbelievably poor customer service. I'm wondering how many other people have encountered the same issue....class action lawsuit comes to mind.

Lowes - Lowe's Online is consistently awful
Third time's the charm. I won't be screw again by Lowe's. I spent an hour of my life I will never get back on the phone with them tonight because I placed an online order to pick up items clearly marked in stock at the store. Today, two days after I placed the order, I check the status of the order and it says "in process." I call the 800-number, and they contact the manager of the store who can't "find the order." How is it that I get an email confirmation of the order, another email thanking me for the order, the customer service representative can pull the order up with the order number I provide, yet the mouth-breathing store manager has no clue about the order? The one item that wasn't in stock and was to be shipped is already en route and will be here tomorrow. To add salt to the wound, neither of the two representatives tonight could have cared less that I was frustrated and didn't get my order. I cancelled the order. This is actually the third time this has happened, twice with the same local store. I have NEVER had a negative experience at Home Depot so I must have had a moment of crazy to even try Lowe's again. I'm a permanent former customer. I'm from the old school, when customer service was actually a thing. It's a cliche, but it's true. Lowe's sucks and sucks big.

Ordering online and expecting excellent customer service? I guess you're not too "Old School".

Get used to it.

The people working at your local store do not benefit from sales on the internet. They earn their paychecks and therefor dependent upon customers purchasing at the store.

Guest

Sometimes the website can't update quickly enough for the actually inventory. People steal things, boxes go missing, *** happens.

You're the reason customer service isn't the same.

We try so hard to help everyone, but people always find room to ***.

Go "old school" and actually go to the store instead of ordering online.

You know, every hour you spend is one that you won't get back. Don't be so dramatic!

Aweful Experience Flooring Installation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We chose Lowes to have our kitchen tile floor installed. The installer they contracted never called to schedule an install date. Materials were delivered and still just sitting here. One week of chasing the installer and Lowes filled with excuses and promises. Finally someone called us after a week of chasing them. We cancelled the installation because of unreliable service. There didn't seem to be any importance to our situation/experience from Lowes, as well. Lowes needs to be sure to contract better companies. One month of our time wasted. Very disappointed in Lowes.

They put 2 rolls of supposedly the same flooring in our kitchen.

Supposedly because they do not match.

One roll is somewhat darker than the other.

I won't use them again.
