Lowe's scammed us out of almost $15,000 of bamboo flooring

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My husband and I did an approximate $45,000 home remodeling project over the past 24 months. The final project was to replace carpet with very expensive Cali Flooring bamboo flooring from Lowe's. We were given a 12 month full "guarantee". Within 2 weeks, the flooring began buckling and planks coming up. It took almost 6 weeks of contacting Lowe's to get any response. They finally replaced the flooring. After the 2nd installation, within 8 weeks, the flooring started buckling and it took 12 weeks to get any action from Lowe's. We felt they were trying to ride out the 12 month guarantee. The fingers started pointing..... Lowe's hired an hard floor industry expert that determined the problem was from the installed nailing the baseboard to the planks so that the floor cannot float. Lowe's denied any further responsibility and pushed it to their installer, and eventually to their insurance carrier Nationwide. Nationwide has denied the claim; Lowe's has not taken any responsibility, and now we are out $15,000 of unusable flooring. My home looks horrible and the buckling is worse every day. DON'T USE LOWE'S! I just told my husband that if he ever walked into another Lowe's and spent one cent, he'd be out the door. Out of the $45,000 we spent on this remodel 80% was purchased through Lowe's and 20% at Home Depot. Our remodeler tried to warn us about Lowe's and the way they really treat their customers, but we didn't listen. SHAMEFUL company! I hope they all rot in *** for what they have done. We're two paramedics, and it took us a long time to save that money.

Lowe's is only responsible for the warranty ONE TIME! After that it is up to the manufacturer to either stand behind their product or not.

You shouldn't have gone to a DISCOUNT home improvement store to buy an item just because it was cheaper then it might have been somewhere else. Don't blame the player, blame the game.

Sounds like it was installed incorrectly. The installers come from Lowes so yes it is their responsibility.

I can't get ahold of anyone to install my carpet. They simply don't answer or return calls.

Online Ordering does not work!

Over the last year, the Lowes web site does not allow me to order ANYTHING. I can find what I want and it says it is available to pick up in store, which is what I want to do. When I get to the checkout of the items, and use my LOWEs card or any other credit card, I get an ERROR that says it cannot be processed. I have contacted the local store and the web site personnel, who say, it's JUST A PASSING thing, and it'll work next week. Ha Ha, very funny, it hasn't worked in over a year. I go to HOME DEPOT now for online orders, because it works. The idea of using the online order to pickup instore is so that you don't have to walk around searching for the items that you want to get. Unfortunately, LOWEs has lost a very good ONLINE customter.

Carpet install

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased carpet from Lowe's in early Dec.2016 for two bedrooms and four closets for a total of 528 square ft. at the Brownsville TX store #2468. Their contract installer for my area, Laguna Vista TX, is Vintage Tile out of Mc Allen TX. The carpet arrived to be installed Dec.20th.I was going out of town Dec. 23ed for Christmas. I had moved all the furniture out of the bedrooms, except the beds and I moved the clothes out of the closets to keep damage to a minimum because I have had carpet installed in the past with some bad results when the installers moved my furniture. In my opinion Vintage Tile now takes first place in terrible carpet installs! They didn't take the doors off any of the entrance ways to the bedrooms or closets. They didn't bring a carpet stretcher. They only knee bumped the carpet to the tack strips. They gouged some of the baseboard in a bedroom. A handle in each of the bedrooms was pulled off the door because the carpet was higher then that they removed and drug on the new carpet when opening the doors. We wanted the carpet tucked in the entrance ways of the bedrooms so when they installed the strips to do this they cracked the tile in the hallway! In each of the entrance ways to the bedrooms they cut the carpet so there was a seam two feet inside the doorway. There's more, but Christmas wasn't very Merry. When they finished they asked me to sign off on the job and I asked them to leave. I called Lowe's and spoke to Joy Escobedo, the installed sales coordinator and explained the problem. She and her associate Ryan came to my house, took pictures then called Vintage Tile. Vintage sent another installer out to the house who took measurements and ordered all new carpet to reinstall. These guys did a good job. Asked Joy about some kind of compensation for this mess, so she and assistant store manager, Bobby Hopes, made me an offer to my satisfaction. I read some of the other complaints posted, but in my case Lowe's store #2468 in Brownsville TX took care of my problem. It's my Lowe's.

Customer Service/Repair Center

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The customer service center is a joke!! I bought a Frigidaire refrigerator 6 months ago and the finish is coming off the front of it. The customer service rep told me it's cosmetic and not covered. I asked her how can that be?? It's a defect, not cosmetic!! Then, she proceeded to tell me that I can have a tech look at it, but I would probably be charged for a service call!!! I find this ridiculous. Lowe's does NOT stand by what they sell, nor do their companies. I think Lowe's get a poor quality of products and then the consumer is left to foot the bill when things go wrong. I'm done getting anything more at Lowe's.

Read your warranty. Lowe's to start with is very up front about warranty.

You get a 30 day no questions asked return on major appliances due to defect. You get 7 days if you simply do not like the product. Anything above and beyond the 30 days goes back to the manufacturer. You may not like that but how can you expect a retailer to be held responsible for a manufacturers warranty.

Would you take a 6 month old car back to a dealer and expect them to pay for a paint job? No you would not you would take it to them and they would submit a warranty claim against the maker. You think because you buy something at Lowe's they have to cover a problem six months after purchase?

Then you get on line and squeak like a rat stuck in a trap because you are too *** to read the warranty book? You should be banned from buying anything.

You spend 2,000$ for flooring then wait 3 months to have it installed!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been waiting to have my floor installed for over two months now, the best part is I haven't even paid for it! I talked to the manager and misunderstood him when I thought he would compensate me for having to wait so long to hear back from the estimate I received. No? He would compensate me if I wanted to buy additional items from lowes. I do not like shopping here, it's a rip off and nothing gets done. Good luck actually having the floor installed after you spend 2,000$ for it! And thanks to Will, the installer, who tried to charge me for stuff he made up and then never made an appointment to come back and install it. Hire contractors that actually work.

Customers are mean

I'm sick of seeing customers pissed off because they have to wait ten minutes for someone to load something they could easily load themselves. These type of customers are rude and lazy and I hope they pop a tire on their way home.

Lied about washer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased a washer on a saturday, was told it would be in "in a couple of days". Went in on wednesday to find out when it would be in, because I wasnt getting any answers on the phone, was told it wouldnt be in until the following Monday. NOT happy! Basically we were lied to , in order for the sales associate to make the sale, he knew we'd go somewhere else if he were honest about when it would come in. Meanwhile, laundreys piling up, but thats not the salesmans concern I guess. Lowes needs to hire more honest sales associates. I will not be shopping there ever again.

Lowes - Whirlpool Dishwasher Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Whirlpool products are junk as 3 of the 4 I bought 3 & 1/2 yrs ago have broken the latest for the third time the dishwasher another control panel. The whirlpool people told me the would fix it for 365.00 and guarantee it for a year. This *** is all made in Mexico as I was told last year by the repair man and he was right I looked it up. We bought top of the line stuff or so we thought but this will not happen again. We have spent close to a 1000.00 on repairs and all we get is were sorry but so is the *** you make and sell. Nothing but a ripoff.

The appliances may have been assembled in Mexico but the electronics in the control panel came from China. Appliance manufacturers have shortened their warranty to one year and are more than willing to sell you a service plan to cover repairs beyond that period.

They are also importing the control panels and other from China to reduce cost. Whirlpool has move a lot of their assembly back to the US but still use Chinese components.

If you cant fix it its not a lemon?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
After spending over $9,000 on a new kitchen appliance package I am sad to report that the Lowes extended service plan is absolutely ridiculous. Buy your appliances and get an extended service plan at a store where they are actually going to FIX things and honor a replacement policy. 11 weeks ago our dishwasher started stopping mid cycle and an error code appeared. It could not be used. This is a "nice" dishwasher, allegedly. We called for service under our extended warranty. A week later comes the first guy and 11 weeks and 7 service visits later here we are. Not fixed, not replaced. Whats the problem you ask? Lowes requires that your appliance be repaired three time and that the repair fail three times before they will declare it a lemon. How can anything be declared a lemon if it can not be fixed even once? The warranty company cant figure out whats leaking and have guessed at what parts to order. Parts have arrived used, with hard water stains on them in the same location where the tech believes our dishwasher is leaking. The mysterious leak has shorted out other parts. Still no one can see where its leaking from even after my husband and I took turns laying on the floor during the cycle with a flash light taking pictures of anything that looked remotely wet. The service company keeps tickets open returning to the house more than once on the same call so in Lowes warranty system 7 trips to my house appears to be only 3. Seven half days off work, Seven tech appointments each at least an hour. Five parts ordered to the house. What does that cost? How much is a new Dishwasher? Ill be going to another store tomorrow to buy something new. I cant take the run around anymore. Then Ill spend 77 days on social media telling everyone who will listen about Lowes, their "extended service plan" and *** customer service. Thats one day for every day Ive been waiting for my dishwasher to be fixed. Small claims court here we come............. Enough is enough!

STEVE DARLING IN CLAIMS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
STEVE DARLING HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO MY CLAIM AND BESIDES BEING VERY RUDE, HE REFUSED TO RETURN MY 4 PHONE CALLS. WHEN I CALLED, HE WOULD NOT PICK UP THE PHONE BUT I USED MY DAUGHTERS PHONE AND HE PICKED UP ON SECOND RING AFTER 3 DAYS. HE WAS VERY RUDE AND TOLD ME HE COULD ONLY WORK ON SO MANY CLAIMS A DAY AND WAS ANGRY BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO REACH HIM BY CALLING THE HOTLINE. I HAD LEFT DETAILED MESSAGES TO ASK HIM TO CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW IF HE RECEIVED FAXED INFO WHICH HE REQUESTED. HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. I WANT THIS OFFICE TO REASSIGN MY CASE TO SOMEONE ELSE BECAUSE HE IS NEGLIGENT IN HIS DUTIES AND VERY RUDE. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE REFERRED ME TO DEANNIE WATTS AND SO FAR I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALLBACK FROM HER. I LEFT 2 MESSAGES YESTERDAY AND I HAD THE HOTLINE NUMBER LEAVE HER AN E-MAIL MESSAGE THIS MORNING. THE LOWES CORPORATE OFFICE SEEMS TO HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT AND SEEM AFRAID TO EVEN DISCUSS THEM WITH YOU. THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO THE SUPERVISOR IS AND JUST REFER YOU TO THE HOTLINE NUMBER. THE HOTLINE PEOPLE ARE VERY NICE BUT THEY CAN'T MAKE THE PEOPLE CALL YOU BACK. I HOPE SOMEONE OF AUTHORITY SEES THIS MESSAGE AND DOES SOMETHING TO CORRECT THIS MESS. I FIRST FILED MY CLAIM ON OCTOBER 24, 2016 AND STILL NO RESOLUTION.

Did you ever stop to think that he has more than your claim to work on? Do you expect him to drop everything and put your your claim in front of all the others he is working on?

How about the fact that every phone call he gets checking on a claim is taking time away from actually getting work done on the claims. It's people that can't let the process work its course that make life *** for the people trying to solve the problems.

Perhaps you should try to understand what it’s like to have to pay thousands of dollars because they won’t honor their responsibilities and when you call to resolve he is rude and won’t answer. It’s his job to resolve claims when their employees makemistakes and Damage your home tonthe time of over 50,000.00. Of which Lowe’s owes me 27,000.00

if Lowes is THAT busy with insurance claims maybe Lowes should be investigated for their business pratices!

Guest

Save yourself the aggravation and Hire an Attorney. I guarantee they will want to settle the case very quickly.

Guest

Same situation. Same claims examiner.

Rude and won’t returm calls. They owe me over 27,000.00. They refuse to answer and have been highly contentious.

Class action??? My incident occurred in 2015 and took till 2017 to finish repairing the damage their contractor caused to my home.

Guest

I also had Steve Darling as my examiner. The WORST experience ever.

On top of being rude, short, not answer any of my questions directly, he had the nerve to ignore some of my emails. He absolutely NEVER answered any of my phone calls and makes me never EVER want to shop at Lowes again. Just for the mere fact that if a Lowes employee were to damage my car in the future, I want to lessen my chances of ever communicating with STEVE DARLING. I even asked to change my examiner, and he still ignored my request.

My case is still not resolved by the way, it's been several weeks. One time I even had to ask him politely not to reply back in a short sentence, he replied back in two sentences instead. Another time I asked for a yes or no answer from a very straight forward question and asked him to reply "yes or no" and he still couldn't even do that. I am SHOCKED with the quality of care from a management department.

At the very least he can take out the Lowe's slogan in his signature block that states "Never Stop IMPROVING" because he clearly has no motive to improve.

Sorry Lowes, Home Depot from now on. All thanks to Steve.

Guest

My examiner is Kelly Hill..after multiple voicemails left and emails I tried to reach someone else... it was Steve Darling. He was very rude and intentionally hung up on me.

What was your claim?

Lowes - Plumbing Service Review

Advised by Lowe's employee to go to Home Depot. We just purchased a shower unit waited apprx.4wks for it to come in. Once we pick it up and were installing, we find that there was no plumbing for the drain I called Lowe's talked to a person in plumbing and he informed me that the instructions clearly state it doesnt come with plumbing drain. I said how are supposed to know this until we are already home and installing (which is an hour away from store). Then I advised him I previously bought a shower untit from home depot and it came with everything. And again how was I supposed to know this without before getting it home to install it . If someone from the store doesnt tell me when I ordered the unit. He suggested I just go back to home depot!!! So that is EXACTLY what we will do. DONE WITH LOWES!!! Leonard 219 866 ****

Faucets and drains usually don't come with sinks, tubs or showers. There are a variety of colors available for these fixtures and people buy them separately so they get the color they want. Your problem is that you assumed the drain would be included.

Guest

Not all installations use the same drain. So how can they out one in the box with the shower "unit"?

If you had bought a new install "kit" before it might have had a drain with it because as a new installation you could have used any drain. But if you are buying a shower stall to replace an existing one you would have to by the drain that works for with the existing plumbing, and how could they know that?

Travonte Knm

I'm a retired contractor and I've never bought a bath tub or shower unit that included any plumbing parts....ever!! Did you read the instructions on the box before you took it home?

Did you see any plumbing parts in the display? the box on the outside tells you what it includes.

Why are you blaming someone else for your issue when it was your fault for not checking out the box and what was and was not included. it is not up to the sales person to instruct you on all of this, it is up to you, as the installer, to know or find out.

Shingles

Last weekend I was shopping at the Lowe's store located at 1651 Pine Island Road in Cape Coral, FL and I asked an employee for help. I wanted to buy one shingle to finish my roof project and the employee told me Lowes does not sell individual shingles, only by the bundle. I showed him several open bundles of shingles an asked why I couldn't buy one shingle since the bundle was already open and some were missing. He told me he would check with the manager, then made a call. He could not get the manager to call him back and a second employee came along and told me the same thing. Shingles can only be purchased by the bundle. Once again, I asked to speak to the manager, and was told that the manager said the store could not sell me one shingle! This makes no sense to me, as who is going to buy a bundle of shingles that is not full! I'm wondering: What in the world Lowe's does with all these nonsalable, incomplete bundles? I come from a different part of the country, and our Lowe's stores have the "customer satisfaction" policy. If they couldn't SELL me one shingle because of company policy, they would GIVE me one to keep a regular Lowe's customer happy and COMING BACK. Since I received absolutely no satisfaction, I pushed my cart off t the side of the checkout lane, left the store, and headed for Home Depot. Lowe's has not earned my loyalty and I won't be back!

Shingles are sold by the bundle. As soon as you start selling singles from damaged bundles people will tear open bundles, claiming there are damaged bundles so they can buy a single.

Have you ever gone into the grocery store and tried to buy 1 egg, a slice of bread etc. It's no different, shingles are sold by the bundle just like bread is sold by the loaf.
