Lowes in Baltimore, Maryland - Sold me a defective snow blower

Bought Troy Built snow blower in November 2011 from Lowes in Timonium Maryland. Under advice of salesman, I bought the 4 year extended warranty, which he claimed would take care of problem I had except for normal wear and tear. I never used it until a snowfall on March 2013. During this time it was stored without gas in it. When I tried to use it in March the unit failed to start. I called Lowes and was told to bring it back to the store. I did so and was contacted a few weeks later. I was told the repair would cost $206 because there was solidified gas in the carbonator. Given that I stored the snowblower dry and put in fresh gas when I tried to use it, I feel I was sold a defective product, and should not have to pay this charge

Well you my file a small claims court

Action for very little ! $

In my state it is only $35.00

Then they will be forced to send a rep to court to speak for them .

IE: just note on form you are suing

A corporation and list the store manager and store address .

That will get there attention for sure. And it's cheap Justice!

You just stated in your complaint that it was your fault but giving that credit to Lowes. Geez, this is funny. Straight up your fault buddy.

People never understand extended warranties, they only take place once the manufacture warranty has expired. Extended warranties only cover issues that you did not cause yourself.

Buying a gas powered item then allowing it to sit around for 1.5 years is just idiotic. You should have ran it a few times changed it's oil a few times, emptied it's gas a few times, used a stabilizer at least once.... Lowes didnt sell you a defective anything, if you want to be angry with anyone be angry with Troy Built, or your dumb@ss...

Most items come with a 2 year manufacture warranty you should have contacted the manufacture to see if it would be covered under their warranty, Lowes extended warranty doesn't start until that expires.... Not to mention all retail stores consider extended warranties 100% profit only fools buy them.

I would also be angry if my "carbonator" was plugged up also.

Lowes in Knoxville, Tennessee - Lawnmower

Two years ago, we bought riding lawnmower from Lowes for over $2500. All 3 tires went flat in the first year, which we fixed. This year it won't start; warranty is expired. They will not honor or stand-behind their product. We have purchased new battery, changed oil, and had mechanic work on carburator. Didn't lawnmowers used to last a lot longer??? We have been a Lowes customer for many years and this is extremely disappointing. We bought most of our supplies to build a house...plumbing, kitchen appliances, paint, wood and columns for porch. We can not get a satisfactory solution from them now for a lawnmover.

It's not a Lowe's product. They don't manufacture anything!!!

Sounds like you bought a lemon. My dishwasher stopped working after 2 years, but I didn't blame Lowes.

I didn't expect them to stand by it. It wasn't their product.

And...we spend over $10k on a few projects at the same time, but again, disherwasher killed over, not Lowe's problem, still shopping there.

Lowes has gone down drastically in the past 5 years and in the last 3 years like a airplane falling out of the sky. The previous CEO was doing a good job, but the current CEO has gotten the company more lawsuits and complaints that is unbelieveable, just read all the lawsuits that Lowes has against them for discrimination, racism, abuse, etc.

They have gotten rid of many managers, mostly good ones and got some of the dumbest managers you can get now. The managers do not know what they are doing and they are running the company into the ground.

Customer service and customer care no longer exists at Lowes, that is why so many employees are miserable working there, if you do not lie, steal, cheat, and be hateful to people you are not Lowes material and you will be fired.

What a laugh! You can't be serious..

The warranty is expired no company in this world compensate you in any way.... Not to mention you should be angry with the manufacture not Lowes, they made that piece of junk....

I would also like to add gas powered equipment have very strict return policy's at all major retailers... Cause consumers don't know wtf they are doing...

When I moved, I just followed the directions, provided the information (such as my new mailing address), and the next day I received the 10% discount coupon that I printed out. My husband did this as well. This could honestly be your fault as much as it could be Lowes.

The discount coupon card is glued to the front of the moving packet. I still have several from our move left. Our postal carrier left me a *** load in my box when I told her we were moving.

Lowes in Tampa, Florida - $75 to take Measurements and no report receivedj

Made appointment 4/7/13 in Boynton Beach Lowe's store to discuss kitchen remodeling. Anna Valverde advised she can't discuss till I have "detail measurement report" done. I paid the $75 for this measurement report. I re-met with Anna Valverde today 4/20/13 for the purpose of going over the $75 measurement report and kitchen ideas from these measurements. I mentioned I have a telephone wall plate on wall where she wants to put cabinet. She told me I need I get telephone company or hire electrician. I mentioned I already have under cabinet lighting again her condescending attitude advised well you need to hire an electrician we only do cabinets and counters. We talked about my existing sink which is one year old and her attitude again was if you want corian you need to replace sink and you need to get yourself a plumber. My husband and I decided meeting was over since we are already at $10000 and this does not include cabinets back splash, pluggmbing or electric. We asked for our "paid" measurement report that we paid $75 for. She told us that is the property of Lowe's. We left and we are pissed.

Lowes - Response to Water Ace sump pump problem

Here's an example of a total breakdown between a Lowes customer and Lowes. Over the last 35 years, I've had many brands of sump pumps including Water Ace. I currently have a Water Ace model R5PILT pedestal pump that has lasted almost 10 years. It is only now the automatic switch is begining to stick. This unit has a lifetime warranty and Water Ace is willing to send out a new switch. I have decided to update the style of switch from mechanical to electronic. I can't understand why the person in Mt. Holly would continue to replace failing Water Ace sump pumps with Water Ace sump pumps especially after 2 had already failed. What's worse, Lowes continued to let him buy them. I would have offered him a different brand even if it cost Lowes a few extra dollars. Common sense told them to stop using the Water Ace product and change. Who wants to keep replacing sump pumps when the basement is flooded. In the future, all things fail. Sometimes for no reason. It doesn't mean we have to keep using them and get pissed! By the way, I have a submersible as a back up and the pedestal pump is the operating. I have a small gasoline generator to operate the pumps and a few other appliances when the power goes out. I learned ONCE, I need to prevent a flooded basement. There is only 1 basement that never floods and that's the one that never needs a sump pump and is located in the middle of the Sahara. If you are considering finishing a basement I highly recommend using a product like DriCore sub-floor. It raises everything off the concrete using a plastic footed base with a particle board top. It comes in 2' squares and is tongue and groove. You can float it of secure it to the concrete. There are other floor systems made of waterproof materials that do the same thing but they considerably more expensive.

What are you ranting about? Warranty's are protection if the unit fails, their is no cross over.

It's at the manufactures expense, the manufacture covers it, not Lowes. The manufacture would not be happy with Lowes if they started saying hey this brand is junk use this one, matter of fact they would walk away from Lowes and other manufactures would hear about it and consider walking too...

The manufacture takes the hit, the give them a new unit. It's all on the manufacture not Lowes, hopefully you can comprehend this....

Lowes - Valspar sandstone paint

First off, they didn"t properly mix the shade I wanted so I had to have them adjust it, which turned out worst. They started a new can and when I applied it to my wall , which I may add was a disaster, didn't go on good and then the color was not what I wanted. I had to go out and buy another brand of paint. The sandstone paint is a mess and Lowe's doesn"t care that I'm out of 42.00 dollars. I hope Valspar cares and can reimburse me. I will never use Valspar paint again ! Lowes couldn't even help to explain the procedure of applying this paint...

Sandstone is a textured paint. The colors will vary because of the pitting in the texture.

You should've asked for instructions on applying the paint instead of being a rude ***. You might have gotten the color you wanted :)

Anonymous
#640224

Contact Valspar...they have really been pushing their product even giving away free cans. Let them know that Lowes did not mix the color properly.

They will reimburse you with another can of paint, whether you choose not to purchase their paint again. I wasn't happy with the coverage of the free can of Valspar paint and covered the table I painted with Glidden.

#640220

Why would Valspar be inclined to reimburse you? You have stated that you will never use their paint again.

They have nothing to lose by not helping you.

You obviously don't have experience in applying this paint and should have taken more time to learn before buying it. Sounds like Lowes already replaced the first can you bought...they tried...you just didn't understand what you were buying.

@Why...

I have sandstone paint in my house and I love it!! I get a lot of compliments on it!

Of course it's going to be messy applying it anybody with a brain should realize this!

Lowes can't control that you ended up not liking something YOU bought! You sound like a real ***

Lowes in Hamilton, Ontario - They just don't care

We ordered a light railing for our kitchen cabinets. We were told it would take 2 weeks to be completed. 2 months later they don't know where it is and they definitely don't care. This is the 4th time I've purchased something there and the 4th time I've had a problem with the purchase. Each of the 3 other times I've brought the product back the employees shrugged and said I should just get my money back because this sort of thing happens all the time. THEY JUST DO NOT CARE. This will be the last time I spend a dime there

Lowes in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Inappropriate installers

We ordered expensive carpet from Lowes and when installed they did a poor job and a seam in the hallway stuck out like a sore thumb. I let them know I wasn't happy with it and was told the appearance would improve over the next month. After 6 weeks I called them and said I wanted it fixed, that there had been no change. They sent someone out from the installation service who tried to fix it and he could not. So they wanted to take the carpet up and reglue it and try to stretch it to fit. We said no we want new carpeting placed. 4 weeks later they still had not ordered the replacement carpet. When they did get the carpeting in and set up another date for installation(another day off work) the original installer returned and came in our house and started screaming and hollering at my husband, saying he had a right to fix his own mistakes, and that this new carpeting was coming out of his paycheck. My husband said no you are not going to try and fix the carpet in there, you are going to replace it with the new carpeting. He got mad and went and sat in his truck for 30 minutes cooling down and on the phone. He then came back in and said he would put the new carpeting in. When done he asked my husband if they could be friends. I complained to the manager of the Coon Rapids Mn store who said he was sorry, and would get back to me. About a month later I called him again, and was told he had no idea what had been done with this person, he had handed it off to someone else to take care of. I was so angry that he felt that someone coming into our house and screaming at us wasn't important enough to handle himself. He had no idea what had transpired and felt it to unimportant to return a call to us as promised. I would never purchase another item from Lowes, no even a nail

Straight up, you are an *** for not letting the installer fix the mistake. It's cranky people like you that put small businesses, the contractors who do work for Lowes, out of business.

It only would of been fair for them to fix it.

Honestly, the installer paying for the carpet, Lowes won't, may not of paid a bill. You should be ashamed of yourself and remove yourself from the pedestal you think you should be on

This is the problem when dealing with big box retailers instead of local stores. The local guy will do everything he can to make you happy.

The big box stores simply don't care because no one is ever held responsible. Use this a a learning experience.
