300 dollar power washer quite working

I have found another reason to not purchase some items from the 'big box' hardware stores. Lowes is generally a handy place to purchase some items (i.e paint, lumber, flowers, lights). If I had thought about it before I purchased the power washer I would not have purchased this type if item from Lowes. I paid cash 300.00 cash for a nice Troy-Built power washer. I used it three times last year for a total of eight hours. I ran it out of gas before I stored it for the winter. I pulled it out 2 days ago and filled it with new gas and started it. It ran for 3 minutes and quite. I called Lowes and was told I needed to contact Troy-Built for warranty service which I did. I was told it sounded like a gas related issue since there might have been some gas left in the reservoir that separated over the winter and clogged the jets. This is not covered by the warranty. I was told to clean the carburetor and reservoir and try it again. I contacted my smaller local hardware dealer who sells power washers and was told if I had purchased it from them they could have their service department check this out. That is the advantage of buying these type of items from a local dealer and other over the shelf stuff from the big box stores. Lesson learned.

The gasoline is not as bad as the broken pump you probably have because you left water in it when you stored it in your shed. Sorry but warranties can't fix ***.

$75 to take Measurements and no report receivedj

Made appointment 4/7/13 in Boynton Beach Lowe's store to discuss kitchen remodeling. Anna Valverde advised she can't discuss till I have "detail measurement report" done. I paid the $75 for this measurement report. I re-met with Anna Valverde today 4/20/13 for the purpose of going over the $75 measurement report and kitchen ideas from these measurements. I mentioned I have a telephone wall plate on wall where she wants to put cabinet. She told me I need I get telephone company or hire electrician. I mentioned I already have under cabinet lighting again her condescending attitude advised well you need to hire an electrician we only do cabinets and counters. We talked about my existing sink which is one year old and her attitude again was if you want corian you need to replace sink and you need to get yourself a plumber. My husband and I decided meeting was over since we are already at $10000 and this does not include cabinets back splash, pluggmbing or electric. We asked for our "paid" measurement report that we paid $75 for. She told us that is the property of Lowe's. We left and we are pissed.

Garden Center

Me and my husband are both disabled. We were in the garden center and asked for assistance. We waited more than 20 minutes and no one ever showed up to help us. My husband advised the cashier I had talked to and told her no one ever assisted us. All she said was "oh," and proceeded to call someone. My husband told her that we no longer needed assistance as he couldn't stand any longer and we just left. Lowe's employees need to understand that when a disabled customer requests assistance is because they can't do it themselves. We will shop at Home Depot as they have always assisted us with what we need.

I have been to both Lowes and Home Depot and it is like night and day, Lowes employees are rude, hateful, disrespectful, and their moral is very low. Home Depot's employees are friendly, helpful, and treat you with respect. If it wasn't for the employees working for Lowes and their jobs, I would hope Lowes goes bankrupt and the management end up homeless because they deserve it.

Guest

The fact with Lowes is that the store is always short handed and most of the employees that they hire now do not know anything or they are lazy. Lowes not care about anything but the bottom line and the numbers.

they say they have an open door policy but it is a joke, the employee opinion surveys for the company have been going down drastically in the past few years because the managers abusew the employees so much, you can read the same thing all over the internet from so many stores about the abuse and unlawful firings that they have. To get ahead at Lowes you have to have no morals at all and you have to not care about people at all. That is Lowes new future plan, customer does not matter and you must not have any feelings for other human beings, they plan to implant chips in all there employees soon to shock them if they are nice to people and if they care about others. Lowes will soon be a company that used to exist, bankrupted because they did not care and had no heart.

Home depot is seeing this and re-training their people to compensate for Lowes lack of humanity in their stores. Shop at Home Depot the employees there are human beings and not abused monsters like Lowes are.

Guest

I agree bad service is never acceptable but get all the facts before you try to get someone fired which is what complaining to the manager can do. If you can not wait leave and go somewhere else.

You have the right to do that. But please do not place say all disabled people are like the poster. I to am disabled and I have a job and go to work everyday rather then live of the taxpayers. Not once have I used the disabled card in any store.

I feel regardless of your disability you should be able to do for yourself and not expect everyone to do things for you. If I can't stand long enough for the person to help me I will sit in the front of the store on the chairs they provide for their customers and let the service desk know I am sitting their and need help.

People will be more apt to go out of their way for you if you are nice. You do not sound like a nice person to begin with.

Guest

Being fat and lazy does not count as a disability,,Look at the 500 pound heifers riding around Walmart on those scooters and paying for their slop with food stamp cards,,,, :p

Guest

Whether you are disabled or not you may have to wait for service in a big box store. They have a minimal staff and those people may be tied up helping other customers.

Just because they are paged doesn't mean they are going to ignore the customer they are assisting and come running to you. Another fact is that what you may call 20 minutes may well have only been 5.

Most times when a store manager investigates a claim like this by reviewing the security tapes they find the customer has only been waiting a few minutes rather than the 20 to 30 minutes they claim. :cry :cry :cry

Guest

Disabled? The word for I'm a lazy phatfvck who can't do anything for myself?

My mom is legally disabled yet she would never behave in this manner. What I mean by that is she wouldn't act all entitled and mighty. She wouldn't post on a online forum crying about something she didn't have all the facts about. She would have eventually just did it herself!

I'M GOING TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED! IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AT MY WORKPLACE. CUSTOMER ASK FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE CASHIER, CASHIER PAGES FOR ASSISTANCE, PERSON STARTS TO COME TO ASSIST THE CUSTOMER, ON THE WAY THEY BUMP INTO SEVERAL OTHERS WHO NEED HELP! YOU CAN'T JUST IGNORE THEM YOU MUST HELP THEM!

After helping 1 2 3 4 5 6 who knows how many others you forget about that page. YOU CAN SOMETIMES SPEND UPWARDS OF 30+ MINUTES WITH JUST 1 PERSON. BE patient, find someone else! Don't just stand around going I'm disabled I can't believe this.

DO FOR YOUR *** SELF! It's one thing to be disabled it's another thing to use it as a crutch to be lazy....Most people wouldn't even be disabled if they properly took care of themselves when it came to health and fitness.

I have so much more I would love to add to this topic. I forget that you disabled people know everything!

You would never forget about a page that just happened a few minutes ago when you are being bombarded by questions! I would like to add other possible thing occurred. A fair amount pages go unheard. At least once a month we page our manager and he doesn't respond, want to know why?

BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HEAR IT. SOME KID WAS SCREAMING AROUND HIM AT THAT TIME YOU NAME IT...

STUFF HAPPENS. GET OFF YOUR DISABLED CRUTCH AND DO FOR YOURSELF.

John N Mzy

It doesn't matter if you are crippled or not, there really is no excuse for this kind of service. I would have gone straight to the manager's office and complained.

I urge you to at least send an email to Lowe's corporate and tell them what happened.

They might just forward it to the Lowe's store manager, but they really need to know someone has fallen down on the job. You might want to try Home Depot or Menard's.

Wrong flooring wrecked my new home schedule completion

I paid for special order maple flooring. Lowes delivered oak & maple mixed boxes in the rain. Installer put down mixed flooring in living room before realizing it was two different kinds of wood. All had to be ripped up and started over. Now installer on another job while I sit & wait. Also supposed to have some reducers in (again special order) no one at the store knows anything about it. They also dinged my fridge when they delivered it. No quality control. The flooring manager out today. I guess I will be waiting till tomorrow to find out what is going on.

You should have hired a professional installer. First, they would have spread the flooring throughout the room to acclimate to the environment it was being laid in.

At this point a professional installer would have noticed you had 2 different kinds of wood and wouldn't have laid the floor. Mistakes happen and the wrong product can accidentally be shipped.

This error was compounded by your hiring someone who didn't know what they were doing. You need to buck up and take part of the blame for your delay.

I had a professional installer. His assistant started on the wood while he was working on bathrooms.

He works for lowes. The blame is not on me.

Guest

Actually the blame is on you for not inspecting what was delivered. You should have visually inspected what was delivered and made sure it was the correct items and color.

Written up for leaving work ON TIME?!

Today I was informed by a head cashier that I was written up the night before for, "not letting the ASM know I was leaving." I was unaware that myself and the ASM was married and I had to let him know when I leave every day. I was scheduled until 9:30 at night, and I expect to leave at that time. Funny thing is that I didn't actually leave "on time," I left at 9:45. I have been treated horribly there for over a year now and something is about to go down. There will be a scene that will make the whole company look bad.

I will not be filling an application nor shopping there for most anything i can get the lowest price on pretty much everything at menards and the best quality at homedepot and its either quality or price example wire its all the same in terms of standards or plumbing then we have stuff like the brackets to mount a 2x4 across your backdoor they are much thicker wider and accept much bigger screws at homedopt so when quailty matters go for the best double the price but not gonna go to lowes for a halfway to save 2 dollars not to mention they have issues with orders they screw it all up likely at the payment center leaving you with no option to debate once you sign the papers with all the apreviations that nobody can understand home depot you can compare part numbers and such no 22''lng 35 in dp-3/4 counter then they tell you ya that is 22 feet long and then they deleiver a sliver of a counter and charge you for 22 feet i have heard a few stories like that

Guest

Totally know what you mean. I wasted 6 years of my life at Lowes. One of the most messed companies I have ever worked for.

If the store was closing at 9 and you were scheduled until 9:30, then you need to bring it to the Head Cashier and/or ASM's attention and ask if you could leave early at 9 or stay until 10. Head Cashier has to go through the ASM anywayss for approval, but it is polite to ask to ensure that she doesn't need your help after close.

It is store policy that no one leaves alone, so I am betting that is why you did not get out at your scheduled 9:30 leave.

I have never heard of any of my cashiers being written up for leaving late, but it does not entirely surprise me. I would approach HR and your ASM about it and ask how they expect you to get off at 9:30 when the store closed at 9 and didn't let you out until 9:45 when I am assuming everyone else that worked the closing shift left as well.

Extended Warranty is a joke

I purchased a Whirlpool from Lowe’s in Union NJ and after two yrs it started having problems so I figured since I had extended warranty I would get it fixed. The repair company sent a service man who could barely speak English and he told me I would have to pay out of pocket for everything thus costing me over five hundred dollars to repair. I plan on contacting 7 on your side or Arnald Diaz shame on on you because as consumer "money doesn't grow on trees" and why should I pay for coverage just to be told NO.

Extended Warranties does not cover abuse by the consumer. It also does not cover things based on life expectancy.

A regular manufacture warranty is very similar. Major retail chains consider an extended warranty 100% profit. Most people forget about them or do something to mess it up so they don't qualify for a repair or replacement.

There is nothing you can do in such a matter. Clearly whatever happened was not covered or you abused the unit which is the most common reason for rejection :)

Guest

What did you purchase? Was it a whirlpool tub or a Whirlpool appliance?

You don't say what the problem was.

If it was something you caused or caused by an act of God it would not be covered and you would have to pay. If you are going to complain on a site like this tell the whole story.

They just don't care

We ordered a light railing for our kitchen cabinets. We were told it would take 2 weeks to be completed. 2 months later they don't know where it is and they definitely don't care. This is the 4th time I've purchased something there and the 4th time I've had a problem with the purchase. Each of the 3 other times I've brought the product back the employees shrugged and said I should just get my money back because this sort of thing happens all the time. THEY JUST DO NOT CARE. This will be the last time I spend a dime there

Lowes Hassle Free Online Shopping -- True Lie

I purchased two "allen + roth" lamps from Lowes. One was fine, but the 2nd one didn't contain all the parts. I called the 866 number on the installation guide. They never heard of the lamp (seriously, they didn't know about a lamp they were supposed to support). I called Lowes customer service. I got a lot of apologies, but the customer service person wanted to know what store I ordered it from. I didn't order it from a store--I ordered it online. Now I'm waiting for someone to call me from a store I never visited. And Lowes online ordering is supposed to be 'hassle free'. I'll never order anything from Lowes again!

Miss treated by James Brown a Lowes manager

I visited the Lowes store located at 4455 S Buckley Rd Aurora, CO. It was one of the worst experiences I have had shopping. I went to the store to purchase a power washer. The only one left did not have all the parts in the box so I asked the manager James Brown if I could get all the parts to product or a discount because there were missing pieces. He said in a rude and very condescending way “you are in Lowes not Park Hill” I was completely offended because he went on to say a few other thing that were completely inappropriate. I was SHOCKED!!!! I was a loyal Lowes customer but going forward I will shop somewhere else. I will SHRED my Lowes credit card and will NOT spend another dime with a company that would hire people like who would talk to or treat its customers like this and unfortunately it is not the first time I have been offended and treated inappropriately by the staff at this particular store.

Horrible Customer Service.

This was the message I wrote to Lowes. Dear Lowes, Today I had the worst experience I have ever encountered during a transaction with any other business. I went to return a few items I had left over from a home improvement project. A total amount of $11.70 (with tax). I had to wait 30 minutes just to be seen by an associate, of the 4 present none acknowledged me or to say they would be available shortly. Even a manager walked by and there were about 4 of us in line, he offered neither acknowledgement or assistance. All of my returned items were unopened in their original packaging with their original labels/upcs. I handed your associate my receipt to which he indicated was "useless" and threw it away because it was beyond the standard return policy. At which point he told me that "He wasn't obligated to return my items, that the company states it shall do so with it's discretion". I replied "I was just at Home Depot making a return, and they had no such issues with doing so." He said, "Well, let them loose money then." I said, "Isn't the point to make the customer happy?" To which he replied, "It's not profitable to accept returns, if you were in business you'd understand." I actually DO run my own business and personally I find the best practice is excellent customer service. However, I don't find it either appropriate or necessary for an associate of any company to argue with it's customers about anything. I have never been so embarrassed and insulted in making such a small return with completely unused and unopened items. This is not my first negative experience with your company, but it is my last. Today you lost a customer over a grand total of $11.70. I promptly took my gift card and spent it so that I will never have to return to your store(s) again. I am glad you have a "Hassle-Free return policy", I certainly haven't experience it however. I will be sharing this with as many people as possible, and will direct them to do business elsewhere.

get over yourself

Guest

People need to start reading their receipts. Once your over the "day amount policy" you don't get to return with or without the receipt.

What is so hard to understand about that? And yes companies can refuse a return.

The associate chose to argue with you probably because he didn't want to bother a supervisor who has more important things to do then to have to come down and regurgitate the same information that the associate has been trained to know and tell the customer about company policy. It's a waste of time.

Guest

I work for a competitor and you have 90 days to return most items; other items have 30 days other 7 days, if you go past that point you're not entitled to a return. The employee did sound a bit rude other then that no reason to be all huffy. I'm sure you were not so nice to the employee either causing the issue.

Guest

This however is semantics, when you are returning an actively sold product which has been unused and unopened there is no loss to the company, the expense of paying an individual to re-shelve the item is nominal compared to the retention of a customer. That is economics "101", as a customer retained over a "lifetime" will return and easily offset this "loss".

I would be very curious to know which companies are successful who do not put their customers first. Naturally they retain their "discretion" in order to prevent exchanging product that was either not sold from their location, or was in a condition that would in fact cause a loss. Again my reciept clearly showed all the items were in fact purchased at their location.

However, to be fair to Lowes the store manager just phoned me and apologized and when I explained the situation he told me that given the circumstances that the representative should never have acted in that manner. I appreciate him having contacted me as it shows that they do have customer service in mind, which to me is an extremely important factor in doing business with someone.

Drunk on the job

I was in my local Lowes the other day in Bloomsburg because I wanted to buy some new flooring for a few rooms in my house. I go back to the section and start looking and wandering around. After a while I found some help from a guy. After only a few moments, I can tell that he was drunk. I don't care what kind of job it is, one does not do stuff like that before or during a shift. Was going to buy for three rooms, but because he was so all over the place I just decided to leave. Lowes needs to get a hold of their people before I would ever decide to go back. They lost a customer that day that would have spent thousands.

Quick to judge. There are plenty of disabilities that can make someone unstable. Unbelievable.

Guest

How could you tell he was drunk and what do you mean he was all over the place? I have known people that drink from the time they get up in the morning until they go to bed at night and you can't tell they are drunk.

This man could have had some kind of nervous habit, that was making him act a little different.

One more thing, if he was acting drunk, don't you think his supervisors would have noticed it, and sent him home or something?

Lawnmower

Two years ago, we bought riding lawnmower from Lowes for over $2500. All 3 tires went flat in the first year, which we fixed. This year it won't start; warranty is expired. They will not honor or stand-behind their product. We have purchased new battery, changed oil, and had mechanic work on carburator. Didn't lawnmowers used to last a lot longer??? We have been a Lowes customer for many years and this is extremely disappointing. We bought most of our supplies to build a house...plumbing, kitchen appliances, paint, wood and columns for porch. We can not get a satisfactory solution from them now for a lawnmover.

Sounds like you bought a lemon. My dishwasher stopped working after 2 years, but I didn't blame Lowes.

I didn't expect them to stand by it. It wasn't their product.

And...we spend over $10k on a few projects at the same time, but again, disherwasher killed over, not Lowe's problem, still shopping there.

Guest

Lowes has gone down drastically in the past 5 years and in the last 3 years like a airplane falling out of the sky. The previous CEO was doing a good job, but the current CEO has gotten the company more lawsuits and complaints that is unbelieveable, just read all the lawsuits that Lowes has against them for discrimination, racism, abuse, etc.

They have gotten rid of many managers, mostly good ones and got some of the dumbest managers you can get now. The managers do not know what they are doing and they are running the company into the ground.

Customer service and customer care no longer exists at Lowes, that is why so many employees are miserable working there, if you do not lie, steal, cheat, and be hateful to people you are not Lowes material and you will be fired.

Guest

What a laugh! You can't be serious..

The warranty is expired no company in this world compensate you in any way.... Not to mention you should be angry with the manufacture not Lowes, they made that piece of junk....

You're clueless. First of all Lowes doesn't have to stand behind it the manufacture does...

If the warranty is a repair then it must be repaired if it okays and exchange then it can be exchanged. Get over yourself.... You probably jacked it up anyways. Most people don't know how to maintain and care for their gas powered equipment.

9 out of 10 people who Shop at Menards where I work think they can come in just grab a 16 inch chain and be on there way. They have no idea that drive links matter or the shape of the link.....

Did you ever take a look at the 2 year warranty? It says they will REPAIR it.

That's how it works. Quit being a baby, take it in, get it fixed and start using it again.

Deceptive Incentives

I received a promotional "spend $50 and get $10 off/spend $250 and get $25 off" with cards attached to present to the cashier. We spent $337.94 and I gave the girl the card, first she said she couldn't use that, but then took it. When I looked at the receipt, all I was given was 5% off - which I always get for using my credit card. When I called, what I was told by a Customer Service clerk AND a Customer Service Supervisor, is that Lowes does not allow you to "stack" discounts. What? Her explanation is that it's on the flyer AND on the website so I should have known. So, the promotion said come in and use this - but they don't really mean it! It's pretty close to fraud to me - make the offer look good and people don't read the really really fine print and oh, they should know because it's on the website. Why bother to send it out! Oh, I know, because most people don't even look! NEVER GOING TO LOWES AGAIN!!! Cut up my card.

They are still doing it almost 3 years later. Checker only mentioned it after transaction complete.

Maybe people don't care but I would guess they have lost more customers and have come out on the losing end. The stores are never very busy.

Guest

I TELL THE CUSTOMERS IF THEY HAVE SAY TEN ITEMS TO BUY,BUY EACH ITEM SEPARATELY WITH THE LOWES CARD AND GET 5% OFF EACH ITEM. THAT WOULD TOTAL 50%. but do it at different stores or different casheir because lowes will catch on to you soon.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-635556

You know that's incorrect right? It would still be 5% off the lump sum... 5% off each item equal 5% off the total amount.

Guest

Then I would have to ask YOU why would You keep shopping at Lowes?

Guest

Promotions are to get people into the store. Why should they stack?

Legally it's not fraud if it clearly stated somewhere on the promotion it is not useable with other discounts. Why you so angry about a minor discount? Stores need to make money!

If they don't make money they shut down and you no longer have anywhere to shop but WALMART.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-631343

If they had told the consumer at the register --either get the 5% with the card or this promotional discount then of course this misunderstanding would not have happened! I received coupon for them that MENTIONS NOTHING about stacking of discounts as we also qualify for a 10% DVA discount I went in to buy a dryer and was told I could not even THOUGH IT DOES NOT SAY that the discount cannot be used with the coupon and vice versa.

The mark up on the dryer is such that deep discounts can be given and they make more then their required margin. So I won't be shopping at Lowe's any longer.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-632140

It may have been in the fine print on the coupon or in the terms of your credit card, but I will agree that the cashier should have said something. Most stores will say, "You can either use your Lowe's card and get 5% off, or you can pay a different way and use the coupon, which is more to your benefit."

Keep in mind that, at least by me, since they are literally across the street from each other, Lowe's and Home Depot will accept each other's coupons. So Lowe's should not have kept your coupon if they only gave you the 5% discount for using their card and disallowed use of the coupon - then you could at least go use it at Home Depot.
