Lowes in Centerville, Ohio - Five Months to complete a simple installation and now the store manager reneges on promised compensation

In late July 2018 I contacted Lowes to purchase and install two vanity tops in my bathrooms. Due to manufacturing defects, installation delays, and lack on in store communication, the installation was finally completed on Jan 10, 2019. Partway through the process (Oct-Nov) I spoke with my salesman expressing concern that I had not had any contact from a store manager, and that the $100 gift card the salesman offered me (probably the extend of his authority) was pretty much an insult. Later that day, I was contacted by a person identifying himself as a store manager. In our conversation he offered me compensation that I would be credited the cost of one of the vanity tops. After another two months the installation was finally completed, the overall store manager is now reneging on that compensation. Today I've learned the store manager claims he and the district manager have tried to contact me multiple times this week, while both caller id and voicemail indicated I have not been contacted by anyone from Lowes, except for ONE call in response to my contact. It is now quite apparent that this Lowes store is now trying to sweep the whole issue under the rug...after a simple purchase and installation took over FIVE months to complete. Use caution when dealing with this store, especially where management is involved.

"Installers showed up in the rain with huge roll despite laser measurements from estimator. Classic ranch house where nothing over 12 feet wide so easily cut room pieces at warehouse. Anyway it is raining and these clowns have to cut it in driveway since they cannot carry the 2 ton roll into the house. We had already torn up old carpet and padding and cleaned, so their job already easier, one would think. They end up short cutting and have to stuff remnants into corners and under baseboards. And it is also the wrong color! And when they leave they refuse to put back furniture and take any old carpet and pad. And the final kicker, they took all the door stops that where screwed into the base boards behind the doors. And last final *** the installer has phone numbers that will not go through or connect. Nice job Lowes.

Lowes - Lowe’s refrigerators and warranty’s suck!

My wife and I bought a whirlpool refrigerator from Lowe’s online and it has been a disaster! Within the first year we had issues with the ice maker and icing in the refrigerator compartment, everything was freezing. Fast forward to this past Christmas the refrigerator stoped cooling and we lost our food and groceries during the 2018 Christmas Holiday season. They took approximately 2 weeks to come and order parts 01/07/2019! Fast forward two weeks and it stopped cooling again now they are telling us it’s another front defrost control in the front of the refrigerator and Diffuser ? Once more loosing our groceries! It will be two weeks before they arrive with the parts! We have called Lowe’s to extend our warranty because this refrigerator is only 2.5 years old and we bought a 3 years plan! They are giving us the run around stating that the extended service plans are in a lottery system? I have to say Lowe’s has to be the worse at customer service and I will never as long as I live buy another item at the store not even a screw! They don’t stand by the products they sell and treat the customer with the upmost disrespect by lying to them! Now I have a refrigerator they sold with a service contract that cannot be extended! Lowes can GTH as far as I am concerned and I hope they go out of business!

Lowes sends out an installer, takes measurements. Next day the installer wants $1.00 sq ft for tack strips & glue ! Really ? This estimate was on a new room clean concrete, no prep. Independent carpet installers charge $1.00 to $2.00 per sq.ft. depending on moving furniture etc. Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

UPDATE: Scott Hackett from Store 2593 called today 1/18 at 10:30 to inform us that Skwarcan Plumbing would be installing our replacement water heater by the end of the day. I then called Tom Skwarcan to verify and he confirmed that either he or his partner would complete the job this afternoon.

We are awaiting his prior-to-arrival call. It is now 12:47 p.m.

This email was sent to execustservice@lowe's: Good Morning! To briefly summarize our ongoing nightmarish experience, we first reported our defective water heater covered by EPP 0259344414129070830002 on 1/10 through your toll free customer service number. My wife Carol spoke with two incompetent agents (Jonathan and Khadijah) before Yvette intervened and provided assistance. The next day (1/11), after not receiving any follow up communication, Carol and I made a special trip to Store 2593 to speak with Christi Lord (the contact Yvette provided). She generated the detail order which was scanned at your customer service desk. I requested Edgar Shaff from Cabo Mechanical who performed the original installation and Christi advised us that he "was no longer on your contractor list". Christi was very apologetic and promised to update us within 24 hours. We were never contacted and I finally visited 2593 on 1/15 to meet with Christi again. She conferred with her Store Manager Michael Mazur and indicated that the assigned contractor (Skwarcan Plumbing) would call us by evening. Skwarcan never called on 1/15. On 1/16, I sent two messages through your website pleading for help. I also called Christi. Michael from your service center contacted my wife Carol very apologetically and pledged immediate intervention. Christi responded with news that Skwarcan Plumbing and Cabo Mechanical were now "competing for the job" and whoever acted first would complete the work (remember that Cabo was prepared to do the reinstallation on 1/12 or 1/14 at the latest). I informed Christi that we were insisting on Cabo. Shortly after noon on 1/16, I called Edgar Shaff at Cabo and requested that he contact Michael Mazur at 2593. We heard nothing the rest of the day. Yesterday, Christi Lord called and informed us that Skwarcan Plumbing was Store 2593's only authorized plumbing contractor and he would be installing the replacement water heater today 1/18. I called Thomas Skwarcan and he questioned the need to complete Detail Expectation Sheet 465672015620. He asked me to measure our unit (a 40 gallon "short") and provide him with the height. The conversation concluded with Skwarcan assuring me that he would call later to confirm his 1/18 arrival time. At 8:00 p.m. last night, after not hearing from him, I called and asked him what time he planned to install our new water heater. He replied that he wouldn't be performing the job because there was no record of it in Lowe's IMS system. I immediately called 2593 and spoke with Kevin, an assistant manager. Kevin was bewildered and could offer no help, but he promised to send Michael Mazur a detailed email and Mazur would call us soon after he arrived at 7:00 this morning. It is now 9:30 and we have yet to receive a follow up call from either Mazur or Skwarcan. We have been without HOT WATER for 8 days!! Can you PLEASE help a family who has spent thousands of dollars in good faith at Lowe's over the last 20 years? HELP!!!! Thank you!

If you have had any roofing problems with Lowes Please contact me: Anita Mcleughlin 901 287 1422 My roof was not completed and leaking worst than before and they refuse to help. Im asking for anybody out their that has had an issue to come forward. My attorney needs at least 3 to come forward so we can TAKE Action against them. I am am a 74 year old woman that was looking forward to live my life and retire here at my home, which now I have mold and me and my three dogs are having to leave our home. Please contact... It would not cost you a dime... Just your time and could help yourself to get a Class Action againest them. CLASS ACTION CASES DO WORK

We just discovered yesterday that our attic crawl space is filled with black mold due to the Lowes contractor who installed our roof and replaced all of our sheathing 3.5 years ago removing the proper venting when they tore off all of our plywood sheathing and not replacing it, as well as messing with our current insulation that was up there. We discovered that they had removed the proper vent and mess with our insulation a year ago when we tore down the ceiling drywall in one of our bedrooms to repair old water damage.

I contacted Lowes immediately and have gotten the run around since then.

We didn’t know it was all moldy up there until yesterday. I work as a real estate paralegal, so my boss is going to work on getting somewhere with Lowes but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Delivery window was 10:30-12:30 but came early at 9:45 and I was not home and threatened to leave after 5 minutes. I was able to rush back just in time. Stressful and will have to re-think buying appliances at Lowes

Lowes - Lack of employee product knowledge

I purchased a clearance Troy Bilt lawn mower. I had to return it because a cable with a connector was disconnected. I spent approximately 3 hrs. reading instructions and callingTroyBilt customer service reps. I also called Lowes and they told me to return for a refund or they would look at it. We returned it and a person from lawn and garden came to the return desk and spent about 15 minutes trying to figure out where the mysterious connector should be connected. Then a woman walked in asking about her lawn mower that she was their to be picked up. My wife noticed the mower was identical to ours. She then suggested that they look at the ladies mower and see how the connector was attached on her mower then do the same on ours. Great idea problem solved!!! We went home and the mower started right up. My wife saved the day. It would have been a disappointment to have have had to return my lawnmower because of poor instructions and customer service. seriously, don't you think your expectations of the Lowe's employees was a little high? They don't work for Troy-built and have never been trained in lawn mower repair.

If that is what you expect, then you need to stop shopping for price and go to a local full service lawn mower retailer. You'll have to pay a little more, but that is the price of your expectations.

People with that kind of knowledge have to be properly compensated. They won't work for the peanuts Lowe's pays their salespeople.

It's amazing how simple solutions to a problem are often overlooked. Your wife's idea of looking at another mower was the quick, easy way to solve a problem.

No need to look through manuals or calling the companies customer service department. To bad people often fail to take the easiest step first.

Lowes - Too many materials ordered not accurately measured

We went with Lowe’s to install our fence. Brian the guy that came out. Did not get an accurate measurement, just estimated on length I’m guessing because he ordered way too many materials. We are now stuck with because we tried calling, texting and emailing him and lowes with no answers for the abundance of left over materials laying in our back yard. The contracted company was great. Lowes is the one taking people’s money and ordering too many materials and charging too much. If you want a fence pick someone else.

Did you ever think of actually going into the store with your receipts and a list of the left over materials? You'll have a lot better luck standing in front of the store manager and explaining your situation than you will over the phone or e-mailing. Some things are best done In person.
