Lowes Kitchen Remodel Problems
We purchased a kitchen remodel from Lowes in Fresno, CA. The materials are pretty good and look nice. However, it's been over a year and the project is not complete. There are missing / incorrect pieces that have never been replaced. The contractor seems to have written the project off. Promises are made to order pieces and fix problems. A few parts arrive but no one ever follows up or shows up. Tonight, the garbage disposal literally fell off. There has been a leak under the sink for months that the contractor looked at once and then never came back to fix. Maybe it was because the garbage disposal was not properly installed. Now we don't have a functional kitchen sink and (based on past history) we will have to hire our own plumber to fix the problem if we want it fixed sooner than 2-3 weeks.

Lowes review in Bangor, Maine: Kitchen installation

2.6
Details
I signed a contract with Lowes April 6, 2018 for a small kitchen upgrade. It is February 2, 2019 and my kitchen is still not finished. It was suppose to be finished July 2, 2018. Some reasons for why it is not completed: measurements were way off, ( 16 inch error ) contractor didn't show up or call, charged for services not used and severe lack of communication between customer and store. I reported them to the better business bureau. I am dealing with them now. I will not refer anyone to Lowes as you can imagine. I hope this review will help. Janna Irvine, Old Town, Maine.

Lowes review: Horrible, horrible experience

Details
Purchased $3, 000 in cabinets from Lowe's on-line. Purchase was from West Little Rock store. Order was fulfilled out of North Little Rock store. Several items were damaged or omitted from my order. Lowe's informed me I should have inspected the garage full of cabinets before their delivery driver left - a pure genius comment! I replied, "feel free to send him back to load the garbage he unloaded and refund my $3, 000!!!" Cabinets were in boxes and on pallets! Sure, I'll spend the next 2 hours opening boxes while the driver watches! Good grief. Took me a solid week to get this mess fixed due to each store saying it wasn't their fault and passing the buck! I've spent thousands of dollars at Lowe's in Russellville, Conway and North Little Rock over the years. However, rest assured, I'LL NEVER SET FOOT IN A LOWE'S STORE AGAIN, EVER!!!! I'll shop at Home Depot going forward. They actually have customer service and employees in their stores. Little wonder Lowe's is closing over 50 stores around the country. Hard to sell product to a customer when you have no employees or employees who have ZERO training or aptitude to complete their assignments. Farewell Lowe's, you reap what you sow. I'm confident the entire corporation will soon be filing bankruptcy. Dr. Vance Parker

Lowes review in Chicago, Illinois: WATER HEATER REPLACEMENT

Update by user Jan 18

UPDATE: Scott Hackett from Store 2593 called today 1/18 at 10:30 to inform us that Skwarcan Plumbing would be installing our replacement water heater by the end of the day. I then called Tom Skwarcan to verify and he confirmed that either he or his partner would complete the job this afternoon.

We are awaiting his prior-to-arrival call. It is now 12:47 p.m.

Original review posted by user Jan 18

This email was sent to execustservice@lowe's: Good Morning! To briefly summarize our ongoing nightmarish experience, we first reported our defective water heater covered by EPP 0259344414129070830002 on 1/10 through your toll free customer service number. My wife Carol spoke with two incompetent agents (Jonathan and Khadijah) before Yvette intervened and provided assistance. The next day (1/11), after not receiving any follow up communication, Carol and I made a special trip to Store 2593 to speak with Christi Lord (the contact Yvette provided). She generated the detail order which was scanned at your customer service desk. I requested Edgar Shaff from Cabo Mechanical who performed the original installation and Christi advised us that he "was no longer on your contractor list". Christi was very apologetic and promised to update us within 24 hours. We were never contacted and I finally visited 2593 on 1/15 to meet with Christi again. She conferred with her Store Manager Michael Mazur and indicated that the assigned contractor (Skwarcan Plumbing) would call us by evening. Skwarcan never called on 1/15. On 1/16, I sent two messages through your website pleading for help. I also called Christi. Michael from your service center contacted my wife Carol very apologetically and pledged immediate intervention. Christi responded with news that Skwarcan Plumbing and Cabo Mechanical were now "competing for the job" and whoever acted first would complete the work (remember that Cabo was prepared to do the reinstallation on 1/12 or 1/14 at the latest). I informed Christi that we were insisting on Cabo. Shortly after noon on 1/16, I called Edgar Shaff at Cabo and requested that he contact Michael Mazur at 2593. We heard nothing the rest of the day. Yesterday, Christi Lord called and informed us that Skwarcan Plumbing was Store 2593's only authorized plumbing contractor and he would be installing the replacement water heater today 1/18. I called Thomas Skwarcan and he questioned the need to complete Detail Expectation Sheet 465672015620. He asked me to measure our unit (a 40 gallon "short") and provide him with the height. The conversation concluded with Skwarcan assuring me that he would call later to confirm his 1/18 arrival time. At 8:00 p.m. last night, after not hearing from him, I called and asked him what time he planned to install our new water heater. He replied that he wouldn't be performing the job because there was no record of it in Lowe's IMS system. I immediately called 2593 and spoke with Kevin, an assistant manager. Kevin was bewildered and could offer no help, but he promised to send Michael Mazur a detailed email and Mazur would call us soon after he arrived at 7:00 this morning. It is now 9:30 and we have yet to receive a follow up call from either Mazur or Skwarcan. We have been without HOT WATER for 8 days!! Can you PLEASE help a family who has spent thousands of dollars in good faith at Lowe's over the last 20 years? HELP!!!! Thank you!

Lowes review in Hillsboro, Oregon: Bathroom Remodel Mess

2.6
Details
Made an appointment for bathroom remodel. Designer emailed and said she wanted to introduce self. I was impressed. She said that their procedure has changed and that the first visit would be at the clients home instead of the store. The interior designer showed up as scheduled, took measurements, and asked me some questions about my bathroom project. So far so good. This was on December 22, 2018. We made the in store follow up appointment for January 4th. One hour before the appointment she left a voice mail saying their procedure has changed and that she will not be able to keep the appointment. I called the designer back to confirm i had received her voice mail. No follow up call to explain. Four days later the designer emailed and said the program has disbanded. What? And to give one hour notice to cancel!

Consider yourself lucky that they ended the program before your project got started. Otherwise you would have really been stuck in a nightmare.

My advice would be DON’T go to Home Depot either. Do some research and find a good, reputable local contractor.

Lady those people just lost their jobs because the PSI project is done at Lowe’s. Please get over yourself. They found out on the 4th of January.

Lowes review: New furnace

2.6
Details
July 2017 we contracted through Lowes in Adrian Michigan to have a new furnace put in. We just purchased the home and the furnace was 30 years old. Of course i wanted one of the best. The gentleman at lowes helped us pick it out. Things went smoothly until September 2018. We had to use the furnace and it stopped several times. We had a few service calls and I kept contacting Trane the manufacture of the furnace. Finally Trane recommended someone to come out and take a look and when they did they said the furnace was installed incorrectly. By this time it was November. Michigan can be unpredictable when it comes to weather. I immediately contacted trane they stated warranty would be voided unless we could get it installed correctly. Contacted Corporate at Lowes who acted fairly quickly to get someone out there but in the mean time we are using electric heaters. The furnace was never state inspected. I respectfully requested them to reimburse me for my electric bill. I even contact toledo 11 Call for action. Who they have said have not been able to get a return call from the local manager. Here it is January 10th The furnace has still not been state inspected. I felt just tossed to the side lines. My husband even attempted to speak with the store manager.

Lowes review - Bad Carpet Experience
Four years ago I paid $1200 for carpet for my master bedroom, stairs and hallway. These are low traffic areas but I bought a very good quality carpet. After about 2 years, I noticed a few areas of lose carpet. Another year passed and more waves in my bedroom. Finally this winter I had a contractor out for other work and asked him if he could stretch my carpet. He said he could do it but it was not installed properly and I should be calling Lowes. Not only were there now waves in my bedroom but hallway and on every single step. Called the store multiple times with promises of a return call which never happened. When into the store and they gave me an 800 number which handles their issues. They advised me the warranty is only one year. I sent pictures and a statement from the contractor and finally they agreed to send their contractor to review. Their contractor told me it wasn't the installation but just bad carpet. Lowes then called me and told me I would need to pay $550 to have the carpet restretched. Now if it was bad carpet, would I pay to have it restretched. I would only have it restretched if it were installed incorrectly. I have not been able to get a call back from Lowes. I have purchased carpet from them for two other houses with no issues. I have original carpet in my living room and two other bedrooms upstairs that is tight and has no issue other than normal wear. There is obviously something very wrong. I have been a loyal Lowes customer for 25 years. I am also getting ready to for a major kitchen remodel which I typically would have gone to them for my countertops, etc. They could care less. I have paid off my account, canceled my card and will NEVER step foot in there again.

Why do you expect them to cover the cost of re-stretching after 3 years? By making the purchase you agreed that the one year warranty was reasonable. If you thought the warranty should have been longer you should have tried to find someone (unlikely) that offered a longer warranty.

@Anonymous

Do you think it is reasonable to have your carpet all loose and wavy after this time period? This is not my first rodeo buying carpeting.

I have never had this happen over the course of 30+ years. Especially since this was not "value priced" carpet or padding and in a very low traffic area.

You did the right thing - you voted with your wallet and your feet. You've left and are not likely to return.

I like that : you gave them a chance, they blew it, and you don't want anymore treatment like that.

Good for you. I would have put it in writing for the record and served my complaint to both the manufacturer and installer via Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested.

Everytime I try to pay my Lowe’s Credit card online it says my passwords incorrect or I can’t access the account. The app is the worst app I’ve ever had to deal with and so is the credit card. Not only that but 4 dollar interest rate is ridiculous
