Lowes - Delivery Service Review from Plainfield, Illinois

3.0
Details
I purchased a refrigerator (to be referred to as "item" here-forth) from the Bolingbrook store in IL and have encountered so many issues that I am surprised Lowes is still in business! The following are all of the problems I had to endure: 1. I purchased the item on Aug 1st and was told by the sales person that it would be delivered within 7-10 days and I didn't have it in my possession until this morning, Aug 17th, 17 days later. 2. I had been very specific, since I was told by Lowes that my item would be delivered on Aug 16th (day prior to actual delivery), that I would not be available on the morning of the 16th but rather in the evening and they stated that they would communicate that to the delivery company. Despite that fact, the delivery company attempted to deliver in the morning. I had to call Steve the store manager multiple times to sort this out on the 16th however he was unable to persuade the delivery company to deliver on the promised date. I was however, credited $50 and promised the first delivery the next day (Aug 17th) for the inconvenience, which I do appreciate. 3. The following day the item arrived first thing in the morning as promised and the delivery guys were very polite. However once they left I had noticed that one of the fridge doors were installed in a manner where one of the doors was taller than the other. I called the Lowes Store once again and spoke to a store manager, Samanthia, to see if she could have somebody come take a look at fixing the doors. When I asked for the GM's number she told me that I should wait until she tries to solve the issue before escalating, which I was naive enough to accept. I should have known better. Well the manager never called me back and now I found out that the ice maker was leaking. So I called the next day, Aug 18th, and got a hold of another store manager named John. It was very apparent that none of the managers talk to each other, keep logs of daily store event, or do any type of shift hand off. John had to call me back so he can figure out what was going on, since he was so confused and uninformed. He finally called me back and stated that he would have a brand new fridge delivered the next day and take another $50 off. At this point, I had to take Monday off and now I'd have to take Wednesday off and spending all this time off was costing me a lot of money. I was furious at this point and told John that he would have to do better. So he finally agreed to credit another $198 (odd number) and I agreed. At the end of the day l, they are fixing the issue but this is definitely the worst service I have ever received! I have purchased refrigerators before and it was not anywhere near as difficult as my experience with Lowes. I wasted my work Paid Time Off and hours of my life on the phone between Lowes and XPO delivery; hours I can't get back and shouldn't have spent. On top of that I even contacted Corporate and they never bother to contact me back regarding this.... John, the last manager, is the only on who did his job and he's the assistant manager on top of that...this probably means that he should be promoted and replace one of the other managers that attempted to assist me. I am military veteran of eight faithful years of service to my country and do not appreciate being treated this way.

Lowes - Register Checkout Review from Schaumburg, Illinois

Throughout home Reno, Lowe's has been my go to store. I served 8 years in the army reserve and have been granted a 10% discount on purchases for years because of it. Today when about to purchase a little over $400 in goods, the lady tells me she cannot accept my ID because it is expired. It's been expired for over 5 years and now all of a sudden it is not valid? I even had the ignorant cashier girl call a manager over, to which another ignorant cashier girl came. Apologized but could not accept my ID. I gave her the ultimatum: accept this as you always have, or lose thousands and my credit account. I left with a cut up Lowe's credit card (and made them wait as I called and cancelled the card in front of them). If this is the kind of service I have to work with, I'll gladly go to Menards full time. -and not to mention the countless times attempting to purchase appliances. I say attempt because there have been missed deliveries, missing parts, and nothing but excuses. Goodbye forever you overpriced ignorant box store.

Lowes is kind enough to offer active duty discounts. They dont have to.

Most competitors dont.

If your ID expired, thats on you. Not them.

Especially with all the fraud now.

Credit isn't on them either. Thats run by a bank.

So... the Lowe's in Schaumburg, IL closed years ago. I don't think Lowe's is the ignorant one here.

Are you a troll? You seem like a troll.....

Why are you calling cashiers ignorant? All they were doing was their job.... And Mr Troll why cry about a 10% military discount at Lowes then say your going to go to Menards who doesn't offer any military discount at all expired or not expired....... The credit card part is even more idi0tic, You do know a bank owns that card not Lowes!!!!!

Everyone always assumes these retail stores own these credit cards and make money off of them........... IT'S A BANK OWNED CARD ALL THE INTEREST GOES TO THE BANK.

Lowes only gains one thing guaranteed business. They're trying to provide you with a means to pay for something you can't afford in the first place.

Lowes - Manager Review from Chicago, Illinois

I am a card holder at lowes on 6920 state ave in Wyandotte, kS and I have had some good employees helping me when you finally fine help after walking around looking for somebody. And some are very rude employees. They'll tell you they're about to take there break. And the cashiers can be so rude. The young girl in returns and I had a yelling match at each other. She was still there the last time I was there. Do they know there are people who want a job. If they don't like there job they need to leave. who's over this store. They need a manager who's not going to take employees being rude. Something bad is going to happen at this store if they don't get it under control. I keep watching the news. I don't shop there any more. This store will go out of business, b/c people will stop coming. This is how we as customers in the Dot (Wyandotte) do businesses like these. We stop coming. We will shut them down. Just watch....

It's good that you won't be shopping there any more. What kind of washer/dryer costs $3K? You need to learn how to shop.

Lowes in Chicago, Illinois - Getting the run around for weeks now

I purchased a Samsung dishwasher. It was missing the toe kick piece, which I didn't realize until I installed it. I've spoken with Lowes Customer Service for a total of at least 6hrs now trying to get the piece replaced. I Keep getting transferred from one department to another, then somewhere overseas, then back to the US. I even had the Lowes store manager call in and they refused to help him. They keep asking for me to email them a copy of the receipt, which I have 6 different times! Each time I am supposed to get a callback once its received, yet I have not received a callback once. I still cannot get this resolved and will be filing a complaint with the BBB. I really don't understand how a customer service center can be so worthless. I have a claim number 511-235-134

Sounds like Lowes has tried to help you - it's the Samsung company you should be complaining about.

A VERY Disatisfied Lowes customer

We use to shop at our Lowes store here in Bloomington, Illinois but after a recent incident that we found humiliating and embarrassing we get our home supplies at Home Depot, Farm and Fleet, Walmart or Menards but avoid going to Lowes. Here is the email I sent to Lowes headquarters about this incident: Dear Lowes: My wife and I have shopped at your store for well over 14 years now. We live in the neighborhood of Lowes Store in Bloomington, Illinois. It is convenient for us and we use our Lowes credit card quite regularly. We got our floor throughout our house at Lowes and had them install it. Our bathroom was remodeled and our Jacuzzi, wall cabinets and flooring came from Lowes. Our back porch was rebuilt and Lowes is where we got our wood and supplies. We have always been pleased with your service and products. But recently we upgraded our kitchen cabinets by repainting and getting new hinges, knobs and handles. When we went and bought our fixtures at your Lowes store in Bloomington we went through the self check out and before we got to the exit door a store clerk confronted us saying, she wanted to "search" out bag. There was no peeps or buzzers that went off, we were just a few feet from where we checked out. I said OK and set our bag down. She pulled out three items rubbing them up against this pad and when there was no beeps she said we could go. I told her that I would be talking to the store manager about this treatment because we felt it was very inappropriate behavior towards us. She was not searching anyone else and my wife and I are not thieves and have never been arrested in our lives. I called and talked to the store manager about this incident after we got to the restaurant to have our dinner. The manager said he would get with his Supervisor and they would talk with that clerk. We have not heard back from the manager. Since this incident occurred about three weeks ago we are finding ourselves going elsewhere for our supplies because we are embarrassed to go back into your store and be looked at as thieves. Sincerely Yours Charles Nicholson

Another ignorant consumer making assumptions about being stopped by a front end team member. If your that worked up over what you perceived to have happened shopping at Menards is that last place you want to shop at.

They will detain you for hours and make you sign for a 100 dollar fine and agree to never come back to the store or you will be arrested for trespassing. They do this to people all the time who did nothing wrong. I can assure you if Lowes really thought you were stealing they would have done something very similar. What the people said below sounds very probable to what had really been going on.

I only worked at Menards so I can only speak for them and I wasn't a front end team member.

However, I'd like you to go over o the Menards / Walmart complaint section and you will see many complaints of people unjustifiably being detained and fined. Better yet do a search on youtube for Menards security and you will see footage of a person who did nothing wrong being held against his will by Menards employees.

It could have been that the cashier just wanted to make sure that everything was deactivated before you went through the door and set the alarms off. The self check machines are known for not deactivating things correctly.

She rubbed those items against the pad to turn off the security device. Otherwise an alarm would have gone off when you left the store. It's too bad she didn't explain to you.

LOWES CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A JOKE

It's apparent Lowes' buyers choose attractive products. That is the bait that kept my patronage, and it works as long as there are no problems. But when there are problems, Lowes has the worst ever customer service. This is not limited to one incident -- every time I have to deal with Lowes customer service, it's a bad experience. When I bought a refrigerator, the delivery man cut the grounding prong off the plug. When he came to resolve the problem, he left a deep scratch on the stainless steel door (which was never resolved). When I ordered a garden statue, it arrived broken due to inadequate packaging . I attempted to order a garden shed, but Lowes' staff were inconsistent when presenting specifications, so I took my business elsewhere. After a natural disaster in my area, I ordered a water heater and installation, but at the last minute Lowes did not follow through in this emergency situation. Then when they closed the Lowes in my town, that morning some of their employees were in front of the store, blindsided, because they weren't even told! This tells something about the company's ethic. My advice to anyone shopping at Lowes, only buy it if you can see it and take it with you. Do not order anything sight unseen, do not depend on their services, and do not order off the website. They are not dependable and not customer focused.

Online Pricing Review

I had ordered something online at lowes.com and when I got to the store to pick it up, it was not what I had ordered and they said their was an error with the pricing online. I called the hotline and was treated very badly. I then spoke with the supervisor or lowes and he was even more rude!!! Said that lowes.com and th he actual store are different. Lowes will NOT have my business anymore!
