Four years ago I paid $1200 for carpet for my master bedroom, stairs and hallway. These are low traffic areas but I bought a very good quality carpet. After about 2 years, I noticed a few areas of lose carpet. Another year passed and more waves in my bedroom. Finally this winter I had a contractor out for other work and asked him if he could stretch my carpet. He said he could do it but it was not installed properly and I should be calling Lowes. Not only were there now waves in my bedroom but hallway and on every single step. Called the store multiple times with promises of a return call which never happened. When into the store and they gave me an 800 number which handles their issues. They advised me the warranty is only one year. I sent pictures and a statement from the contractor and finally they agreed to send their contractor to review. Their contractor told me it wasn't the installation but just bad carpet. Lowes then called me and told me I would need to pay $550 to have the carpet restretched. Now if it was bad carpet, would I pay to have it restretched. I would only have it restretched if it were installed incorrectly. I have not been able to get a call back from Lowes. I have purchased carpet from them for two other houses with no issues. I have original carpet in my living room and two other bedrooms upstairs that is tight and has no issue other than normal wear. There is obviously something very wrong. I have been a loyal Lowes customer for 25 years. I am also getting ready to for a major kitchen remodel which I typically would have gone to them for my countertops, etc. They could care less. I have paid off my account, canceled my card and will NEVER step foot in there again.

Why do you expect them to cover the cost of re-stretching after 3 years? By making the purchase you agreed that the one year warranty was reasonable. If you thought the warranty should have been longer you should have tried to find someone (unlikely) that offered a longer warranty.

Do you think it is reasonable to have your carpet all loose and wavy after this time period? This is not my first rodeo buying carpeting.

I have never had this happen over the course of 30+ years. Especially since this was not "value priced" carpet or padding and in a very low traffic area.

You did the right thing - you voted with your wallet and your feet. You've left and are not likely to return.

I like that : you gave them a chance, they blew it, and you don't want anymore treatment like that.

Good for you. I would have put it in writing for the record and served my complaint to both the manufacturer and installer via Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested.

Purchased from Lowes carpet and of course installation, after 15 months carpet buckling up, Lowes stated warranty is only for a year. Never again, they contracted people that they don't know what they are doing, we built our house and the carpet that came with it was good for 10 years!!!!! we go to Lowes purchase the carpet and installed after 15 months awful results never again.... The carpet itself will have a warranty of more than one year. They cover the installation with a one year warranty which seems like plenty of time for an installation problem to show up.

In Feburary, 2019 I paid Lowe's for new carpeting. Several weeks later, they sent out a very dirty and unkempt crew to install it. The crew did a very poor job of installation, leaving noticeable seams and ragged edges. One of the installers ruined my vacuum cleaner by overfilling it. When I complained, Lowe's promised to redo the carpeting and let me choose another. In the meantime, problems came up between Lowe's and their installers, (United Installers). This has continued for over 5 months, and they still have not installed my carpeting. Lowe's told me that they will contact me as soon as they have new installers, which should have occurred 10 days ago, but no word as of now. Don't buy carpeting from Lowe's!!!!!!!

Ordered carpet from Lowe’s 73 days ago, still no carpet! This is just a runner for my stairs. I am told by Lowe’s it’s the installer but the installer couldn’t find the carpet and now doesn’t know where it went to be bound. Apparently the installer doesn’t have to answer to anybody! This is Lowe’s in Queensbury and the installer is Olympic Carpet.

While the carpet has been installed, there is still some variation in the carpet between rooms. However, each room is cohesive.

I would have preferred to have all the carpet match without variation throughout the house, but at least, there isn't any variation in each room. Updated April 15, 2018.

I purchased carpet at Lowe's January 6, 2018, for the living room, dining room, stairs, hallway and three bedrooms. The day before the install for President's Day in February of 2018, I was notified by the installation company there was not enough carpet to complete the master bedroom from the mill. I agreed to at least start on the installation on President's Day, February 19, 2018. Today, on March 16, 2018, the last piece of carpet was put down and the installer notified me the piece of carpet had a variation and did not match. I immediately called Lowe's and we agreed to re-order the complete job to avoid another mess, rip up the previous work and start from scratch. Thanks, Lowe's! Hopefully, this whole carpet installation will be done correctly the third time!
