Lowes - Poor installation service

Signed to have carpet installed over a month ago and still have no carpet. I will be making the second payment on carpet I don’t have! The last excuse from the installer is there forklift broke down. When asked why they didn’t rent one they said “ we didn’t do that “ Why Lowes would continue to use such a company is beyond me.

Both the contractor and Lowes made it seem as if it was no one's fault. WORST EVER!

Four years ago I paid $1200 for carpet for my master bedroom, stairs and hallway. These are low traffic areas but I bought a very good quality carpet. After about 2 years, I noticed a few areas of lose carpet. Another year passed and more waves in my bedroom. Finally this winter I had a contractor out for other work and asked him if he could stretch my carpet. He said he could do it but it was not installed properly and I should be calling Lowes. Not only were there now waves in my bedroom but hallway and on every single step. Called the store multiple times with promises of a return call which never happened. When into the store and they gave me an 800 number which handles their issues. They advised me the warranty is only one year. I sent pictures and a statement from the contractor and finally they agreed to send their contractor to review. Their contractor told me it wasn't the installation but just bad carpet. Lowes then called me and told me I would need to pay $550 to have the carpet restretched. Now if it was bad carpet, would I pay to have it restretched. I would only have it restretched if it were installed incorrectly. I have not been able to get a call back from Lowes. I have purchased carpet from them for two other houses with no issues. I have original carpet in my living room and two other bedrooms upstairs that is tight and has no issue other than normal wear. There is obviously something very wrong. I have been a loyal Lowes customer for 25 years. I am also getting ready to for a major kitchen remodel which I typically would have gone to them for my countertops, etc. They could care less. I have paid off my account, canceled my card and will NEVER step foot in there again.

Why do you expect them to cover the cost of re-stretching after 3 years? By making the purchase you agreed that the one year warranty was reasonable. If you thought the warranty should have been longer you should have tried to find someone (unlikely) that offered a longer warranty.

Do you think it is reasonable to have your carpet all loose and wavy after this time period? This is not my first rodeo buying carpeting.

I have never had this happen over the course of 30+ years. Especially since this was not "value priced" carpet or padding and in a very low traffic area.

You did the right thing - you voted with your wallet and your feet. You've left and are not likely to return.

I like that : you gave them a chance, they blew it, and you don't want anymore treatment like that.

Good for you. I would have put it in writing for the record and served my complaint to both the manufacturer and installer via Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested.

Absolutely, the worst quality of workmanship, ever. Almost one year of back and forth between contractor, Lowe’s, and us. Lowes reps provided the wrong information and wrong padding for the Berber. The contractor did a substandard job with messy staples, uneven seams, and stairs cut too short. All are pointing fingers at one another. Over $4000 in costs for top of line Stainmaster carpeting and it looks horrible. Lowes does not stand by their customer satisfaction

had my carpet installed by Lowes carpet installers. We were unable to be in the house during installation and was waiting in our garage for 6 hours in 96 degree heat. Once they left we noticed black smudges all over our walls, long black marks on all trim in every room,corners into several rooms were damaged, scrapes from them moving out furniture, furniture damage and chunks of wood out of our trim. The regional supervisor for the installation dept came to our home to inspect. Although he apologized, he assured me it was normal to have marks on trim and they should clean up, He said the black all over the walls was body oils and dirt from the installers body as they braced themselves during installation. He took pics of my son's furniture and was unable to scratch the paint off. he did say the chunks of t he wood trim were not normal. We discussed the corners being scratched in several archways from them moving furniture. A few days later he said they would offer us $100. I asked to speak to someone above him and she said the $100 was a generous offer. I was able to get some of the trim scuffs off with alot of elbow grease, magic eraser and ajax cleanser. The black oily smudges did not come off with mild detergent or magic eraser and those areas have been repainted. The trim needed wood filler and sanded and paint touch. The corners needed rebuilt with drywall repair, sanded and repainted. I am outraged that they would think that all of that was normal and it was in the contract I signed. I would agree that some smudges may happen but this was entirely disregard to someones home and that would be considered NORMAL.

Theze two individuaks got into altercation ine was fired. We had carpet installed by Lowes. Two guys showed up.

One guy left after an hour & stayed gone over two hours. We called Lowes & were told they are 3rd party vendors and Lowes could not do anything about it. The next day I see little black beetles in my carpet which I never had before. They also swept after they took up the old carpet.

I am assuming these beetles came from the warehouse & the carpet is infested. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER buy from Lowes again!!!!!!

Had carpet installed from Lowes a year and a half ago. It recently developed waves in it due to poor installation. I called Lowes and they directed me to the installation department. They stated it only had 1 yr guarantee therefore nothing can be done. Recently had another carpet installed before I realized the waves in the other. Carpet was defected from StainMaster. It developed loops and strands of carpet sticking up with black markes showing up. I have been tieing the strands together to prevent further damage. This was noted two days after put down. Pictures were sent to installer also. I was told only one loop was noted (only 1 picture was sent of this). Why is any loop noted? Over six months the problem still has not been resolved. Lowes states they are not responsible. Installation states they are not responsible, and stainmaster states they are not responsible I am out about $4000.00 STAY AWAY FROM LOWES AND THERE POOR INSTALLATION DEPARTMENT.

Lowes in Federal Way, Washington - Horrible experience with carpet installation.

In November of 2017, I ordered carpet from Lowes store in Federal Way, Wa. It was installed on January 3, 2018. There were some problems with the installation and the installers broke two lamps during the installation. The lamps were only two months old and were purchased to go along with the remodeling we were doing. I did not notice the problems until after the installers left because I was reinstalling doors that had to be shortened because of the deeper carpet. I called about an hour after the carpet installers left to report the problems with the installation and the broken items. I talked with the manager of the store. He said he could look into it. The next day a lady called and had me send over pictures the carpet and the damaged lamps. That was the last I heard from Lowes. I have tried calling the manager of the store on multiple occasions and left messages and they were not returned. Unfortunately for Lowes, this carpet install was for only one-third of my house. I have finished the remodel of the house and installed another 1400 square foot of carpet that I ordered from Home Depot instead of Lowes because of these problems.

A few weeks ago we ordered carpet from Lowe's. When we got home, we checked the receipt as the price just didn't seem right. They overcharged us on the padding by a few hundred dollars. Went back to Lowe's and had them readjust the price to what it should have been. No "sorries", no apologies, nothing. Today, the carpet was to be installed. My wife sat home from 8 am until noon like she was supposed to. Nothing - never showed. Called Lowe's and they don't know what happened - the installers never picked up our carpet. They are supposed to get back to us. So, to sum it up: 1. They overcharged us by hundreds of $$$. 2. Did not apologize for overcharging us. 3. Did not show up to install it. 4. Wasted 4 hours of our time so far.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll buy from a real carpet store and get better customer service. But wait? There are no real carpet stores anymore!

Lowe's and Home depot put them all out of business with their cheaper prices! Now what?

he added that they would call me the next Monday to set up a date when the carpet would be installed. Since then I have called four times, every time they changed the date when the carpet arrived at the store, first it was Saturday, then Monday, and Tuesday... last call the woman who answered the call said she will call the installers so they would call me the same day. That was on the 26th. On May 1st, today I have left a message in Lowe's voice mail, three hours ago and have not heard anything yet. I have told them I was not going to shop at Lowes anymore, so maybe that is the reason they are plying games with me?
