I can readily understand why the do not allow refunds on major items such as appliances, but minor items such as $10 yard lights. I am now a Home Depot customer even though they do not give discounts to Veterans.

You fail to include some important information. Did you have your receipt?

Many stores won't accept a return without a receipt proving you purchased the product from them, what you paid for it and how long ago it was purchased.

Were they seasonal (Christmas) lights? Again many stores won't accept the return of products outside their selling season.

Lowes in Jacksonville, North Carolina - The fence that no one built

Lowes - The fence that no one built
I ordered a white panel fence in July of 2018 and now it’s february 2019. This has been the worst experience ever. First off they brought the wrong material la to My house and left it all in my yard for two months Needless to say my yard looked like a twister hit it. After picking up the material they did nothing for another two months. Materials were dropped off in front of my house on my beautiful manicured yard where they are all still there as of today. The workers did start on the fence and literally I mean started. They were suppose to arrive at 11am but did not show up until 230 and left at 4:15. As of today I have 9 panels up and the two in the back have a one inch gap which was not suppose to occur according to one of the contractors and Lowe’s. I have been billed for this product since July so this should be considered 100% fraudulent . I have called and spoken to so many people since July and still my fence is not complete. I will be requesting a full refund for this disaster and will never use Lowe’s installment again.

Does your state license contractors? If it does you should file a complaint with the state.

It will put pressure on Lowes and their contractors.

In my state they also have a fund to compensate people who have lost money to fraudulent contractors. It could also strip them of their license and help avoid this problem for others in the future.

Lowes in Killeen, Texas - No customer service

1.0
Details
I have been working on one of my rental houses in Killeen the last month and always shop at Lowes. There are a lot of employees working there. However, they are focused on Lowes needs, not the customer that is needing help. You see them walking around like on assignment or setting up merchandise shelves but no one is asking if they can help you. I normally shop at the store closer to home in Temple. They are much more focused on customer service but could use more staff. I believe the issue starts with the local management. Employees need to remember the first reason they are there is for the customer, not their supervisor.

Anonymous you are basically an idiot - why order a pizza if you are going to pick it up?? Why reserve a rental car or purchase air fare if you are going to the airport?

People order online to save time and its a service that is offered Plus if there is only one item in stock if you order it online it can be pulled and set aside for you to pick up.

Some of us have real jobs and did not work at Lowe;s for 7 years because we aren't losers like you. The number of times you responded why shop online if you are going to the store anyway shows your stupidity.

Very true, why bother ordering online if you are going to the store to pick it up anyway? If I'm shopping in the store I expect their sales people to be helping the customers IN THE STORE as a top priority rather than running around pulling orders for people that are too lazy to come in and pick Their own.

product off the shelf. If you want to order online have your order shipped to your house.

Lowes - Bad Product, Bad Customer Service, Not Honoring Extended Service Plan

My wife and I purchased a high end Samsung washer from Lowes. We purchased an Extended Warranty Service Plan with it. Within 2.5 years the Samsung washer broke down. We did not really think that much of it since we had and extended service plan. We called Lowes and they did send out a service repair person from a service partner. That person told us that this machine is famous for breaking down and that the part need to fix it, the bearing and a new basket, is not available. He said he would reach out to Lowes and they would contact me. Lowes did indeed contract me, to send another person out to look at the machine. I thought fine, a second opinion, not a problem. The guy was out in just a few days. He agreed with the diagnosis of the first Lowes repairman but did not say anythying about the quality fo the machine, nor the availility fo the part. We got a call from Lowes a day or two later saying that they have reached out to Samsung and would hear back in 48 hours. I figured great, they will confirm the part is not available and we would get the machine replaced, or at least they would find the part and fix it promptly. After all, all we want is a working washing machine. 48 hours pass and no word from Lowes. At 72 hours I call Lowes back and they tell me that they did hear from Samsung and the response was unclear so they did not call us because there was nothing to tell. Yes there was, any update on progress is good customer service and opposed to total silence, even it is bad new. Samsung told Lowes that they were unware if they had the part or not in one of their remote locations but they did not know of one. However they would looks. Please remember that my service plan is with Lowes, not Samsung. So I asked Lowes, what their service level agreement was with Samsung. Lowes said Samsung will take as long as they take and they will not solve my problem until they hear back. I asked them to replace my washing machine because their representative told me the part was not available and the machine was not worth fixing. Lowes had the audacity to tell me that I was not eligible for a replace yet. In order to be eligible for a replacement, we need to have the same issue at least 4 times and that the replacement would have to come from Samsung not them and they did not know how long the whole process would take or what the next steps were. Besides the horrible customer service, Lowes is not living up to the spirt of the extended service plan as sold. All I want is a working washing machine. We paid extra for that protection from Lowes, not Samsung. Lowes is not living up to sales promise or spirt of the extended service plan that we purchases through them and blaming Samsung for the delay. Lowes completely misrepresented what we bought from them.

You realize Lowe’s does not own or manufacture Samsung products? Lowe’s clearly states that appliances have a 30 day return/replace policy, after that you are under the manufacturer warranty and/or the extended protection plan from Lowe’s depending on if the protection plan started from date of purchase or picked up when the manufacturer warranty ended.

Lowe’s sends out a 3rd party repairman of Samsung’s choosing to repair you product, if after 4 service calls it cannot be repaired, it is up to Samsung to buyback (replace) the product.

All of this is in the extended protection plan booklet ( terms and conditions) you should have received when you purchased your product. So yes while Lowe’s is responsible for repairs under the plan, they are not responsible for replacing your product as it is not their product, but Samsung’s.

You could sue Lowe's in small claims court altho you may have to wait until Lowe's actually refuses to live up to the extended warranty agreement or refuses to contact you for a period of time about a repair. Bottom line, tho is to make sure you never buy from Lowe's again and never buy one of those extended warranties from any store for anything.

In the future, remember it is usually best to buy a basic, no bells and whistles appliance and when it breaks and you cannot fix it yourself just throw it out and buy a new one. Good luck.

@h.kitchener

Every consumer report about extended warranties that I have ever read in my life says that they are almost always a bad deal. All of these people who buy them must not read the same publications that I do, or listen to any any kind of consumer shows on the radio or watch them on Television.

You're almost always better off just saving your money for when and if you ever need a repair. Then, if you don't ever need a repair it is like found money.

Lowes sucks...

We made some major appliance purchases at Lowes, which we eventually regretted. Expecting delivery a week later, one of four items arrived. Calling the store we were informed two of the items were on backorder and we might expect them in six to eight weeks. The fourth item could not be located. The department manager was as useful as holding a tennis racket over your head to block the rain. When the items were ordered the salesperson should have informed us of the back orders. Finally contacting the store manager we had a resolve to a very frustrating situation. Albeit, another week passed before we had two of the three remaining items. Oh, we cancelled one of the items and instead purchased it at Home Depot The floor staff at Lowes seem to be frustrated with customer service. On the other hand everybody seems to happy with going the extra distance to assist at Home depot. Lowes is good for purchasing batteries or duct tape. But, Home depot gets our big bucks.

The moral of the story is if you need appliances right away DON'T BUY APPLIANCES NOT IN STOCK AT THE STORE. Due to the lead time I expect you purchased either LG or Samsung appliances.

If LG or Samsung have them in their warehouses you will see delivery within 1-2 weeks. If the warehouse is out you have to wait for them to get more on a ship from Korea.

The manufactures aren't very good about letting stores know when products are backordered or how soon they will ship. It's easy to blame the store but it is really the manufacturer that isn't providing the information about delivery times that you want.

You could always just go through a well-to-do neighborhood on trash day and pick up a perfectly fine appliance that someone is throwing out. The owners probably don't feel like it is worth their time to try to sell it or have the Salvation Army come by and reject it, so they just put it to the curb. Hail, you could furnish a whole house that way with appliances and furniture and save enough money to buy yourself a brand new car.

Lowes in Chicago, Illinois - WATER HEATER REPLACEMENT

3.3
Details

Update by user Jan 18

UPDATE: Scott Hackett from Store 2593 called today 1/18 at 10:30 to inform us that Skwarcan Plumbing would be installing our replacement water heater by the end of the day. I then called Tom Skwarcan to verify and he confirmed that either he or his partner would complete the job this afternoon.

We are awaiting his prior-to-arrival call. It is now 12:47 p.m.

Original review posted by user Jan 18

This email was sent to execustservice@lowe's: Good Morning! To briefly summarize our ongoing nightmarish experience, we first reported our defective water heater covered by EPP 0259344414129070830002 on 1/10 through your toll free customer service number. My wife Carol spoke with two incompetent agents (Jonathan and Khadijah) before Yvette intervened and provided assistance. The next day (1/11), after not receiving any follow up communication, Carol and I made a special trip to Store 2593 to speak with Christi Lord (the contact Yvette provided). She generated the detail order which was scanned at your customer service desk. I requested Edgar Shaff from Cabo Mechanical who performed the original installation and Christi advised us that he "was no longer on your contractor list". Christi was very apologetic and promised to update us within 24 hours. We were never contacted and I finally visited 2593 on 1/15 to meet with Christi again. She conferred with her Store Manager Michael Mazur and indicated that the assigned contractor (Skwarcan Plumbing) would call us by evening. Skwarcan never called on 1/15. On 1/16, I sent two messages through your website pleading for help. I also called Christi. Michael from your service center contacted my wife Carol very apologetically and pledged immediate intervention. Christi responded with news that Skwarcan Plumbing and Cabo Mechanical were now "competing for the job" and whoever acted first would complete the work (remember that Cabo was prepared to do the reinstallation on 1/12 or 1/14 at the latest). I informed Christi that we were insisting on Cabo. Shortly after noon on 1/16, I called Edgar Shaff at Cabo and requested that he contact Michael Mazur at 2593. We heard nothing the rest of the day. Yesterday, Christi Lord called and informed us that Skwarcan Plumbing was Store 2593's only authorized plumbing contractor and he would be installing the replacement water heater today 1/18. I called Thomas Skwarcan and he questioned the need to complete Detail Expectation Sheet 465672015620. He asked me to measure our unit (a 40 gallon "short") and provide him with the height. The conversation concluded with Skwarcan assuring me that he would call later to confirm his 1/18 arrival time. At 8:00 p.m. last night, after not hearing from him, I called and asked him what time he planned to install our new water heater. He replied that he wouldn't be performing the job because there was no record of it in Lowe's IMS system. I immediately called 2593 and spoke with Kevin, an assistant manager. Kevin was bewildered and could offer no help, but he promised to send Michael Mazur a detailed email and Mazur would call us soon after he arrived at 7:00 this morning. It is now 9:30 and we have yet to receive a follow up call from either Mazur or Skwarcan. We have been without HOT WATER for 8 days!! Can you PLEASE help a family who has spent thousands of dollars in good faith at Lowe's over the last 20 years? HELP!!!! Thank you!

Lowe's has NO warranties on anything they sell. Never have, never will.

The days of retailers standing behind the products they sell have died along with Sears. But saving money is what it's all about.

You understand so little about warranties. Warranties are either provided by the MANUFACTURER of the product or extended service plans are purchased through independent companies.

If, as you claim you have a brand new appliance it would be covered by the manufacturers 1 year warranty.

It is the manufacturer you should be blaming for delays, not Lowes. My guess is that if you are having a considerable delay in getting parts it is because you purchased an appliance such as LG of Samsung that are made in Korea and they are waiting for parts to get here from the other side of the world..

It’s not my 1st Applience that I purchased from lows and the completely understand their warranty however you are responding.. and over the years lows always been the best in regard to giving the right information as they promised their consumer and that’s the reason I kept making them my primey place for my home Applience and improvement .

However, this time I had the worst experience and I should have listen to the views about lows getting a bad reputation and now I understand. It started in sep 2018 where they giving me false information saying: your part arrived and they will call you to schedule it yet nothing happen this happened more then 5times. I was told they will replace it because they can’t find the part then they change and say Oh we want to conf that the service company going to call you ....... This is all happened during the besiest time Christmas time spending hours over the phone and waiting for the service company to show up .

Lows made my holiday very stressful. I will definitely take my business to home depo where they care about their customer no matter how much they spend .

The contact is low’s and they have their own contract with few company which lows calls them to delicate the service claim NOT ME. A big company as low’s they are present by those contractor .

Low’s should be doing a better job assisting me . Again low’s promised me a call this week between wed and Friday to schedule my service and just I expected lows just preached me off to end my phone call.

I repeated they got my money for the extended warranty and they don’t care wither I have to go out of my way to do my loundry plus the cost plus the ageny with the irritation and bad customer service and The laying to me over and over and they still have not fixed it . I will be placing another call today to hear another lay for the 2ed time this week and over 16 times since oct 2018.
