Bottom Line: Took 3+ weeks to get a door installed. (Actually the total timeline was 4 weeks and 2 days). First trip: measure door. Second trip: attempt to install a new door onto an existing jam. End of day: jam, trim and door unserviceable. Door jam totally cut out...

Lowes in Big Rapids, Michigan - Months later.....No one can even tell me when the door I purchased will be installed!

2.5
Details
NEVER EVER PURCHASE A DOOR TO BE INSTALLED BY LOWES! We ordered and PAID IN FULL (Big rapids, MI store) for a door to be installed MONTHS ago. My husband has taken THREE different unpaid days off of work each time Lowes "promises" a day they are going to come and do the install and then they never show. When I purchased the doors I made it clear I had company coming (they arrive in a day and a half, this Wed!) and was assured that the door would easily be installed by then...plenty of time. The door actually arrived in the Big Rapids store over a MONTH ago and there it sits today, uninstalled. Last week, for the millionth time(we are at the point of begging now), we were told someone would call us from the Lowes installation department. NO CALL AGAIN. So today I called and asked for the manager of the store. And get this....he doesn't speak to customers. Great manager you have there in Big Rapids Michigan! At least the manager of the door department was professional enough to take the call. And get this!!!!! NO they cannot tell us when the door will be installed. NO it will not be installed as they had assured us months ago. And now...get this...they want to send a new service installer, and CANNOT tells us when he would arrive, "sometime in the FUTURE" and here's the kicker, the door we already ordered, the one that is sitting at Lowes may not be acceptable to this new installer. We have called numerous times,we have driven into the store numerous times(35 minutes), we have begged over and over and over and here we are still WAITING. So today nobody from Lowes can even give us a date ANYTIME in the future when the door which was paid for MONTHS ago will be installed. I wish I would have kept right on driving to Menards and had them install the door. Now I have NO DOOR and they cannot even give me an idea of when it will be installed. So I won't have my new door, which I PAID FOR MONTHS AGO, but to all of you out there....Don't bother with Lowes. Those big signs that say they install. WELL THEY DON'T. Don't waste your time or your money.

The threat of driving to Menards and having them install the door is meaningless as Menards does not install anything. The problem with having a store like Lowes install a product for you is that they do not employ installers.

The subcontract with others to install the products they sell. They are obviously having a hard time finding someone to install your door.

You are always better off contacting a contractor on your own and making arrangements with them to do work on your home. That way you know exactly who will be working on your home and who to contact if you are having problems.

Lowes in Potsdam, New York - CANNOT GET STORM DOOR INSTALLED!

3.3
Details
Ordered a storm door with retractable screen and needed installation. Gentleman came and measured, then got a call from salesman 2 days later that he was off for 2 days but could come in then to pay as they had none in stock but would have them when he came back to work. I went down that next, he was off, they had 7, I paid and the new new salesman put the install ticket ticket through right then..or so he said! Called yesterday, the install ticket had just been put through because they didn't have any. Asked to speak to a manager...he was in a "meeting " on a Saturday. ..and would call me back in 30 minutes. Still haven't heard and still have no idea when door is being installed. Should have driven the 35 miles to Home Depot!

Lowes and Depot are generally incompetents. You are always better going with an outside contractor.

There are more horror stories about Lowes and Depot than happy endings. These companies are scams.....and sometimes they hire felons.

Home Depot doesn't sell the same doors and Lowes. The Larson or Pella (made by Larson) are a better door than the Emco or Andersen doors you get at Depot. Just buy the door and either install it yourself (not a very difficult thing to do) or hire your own contractor to install it.

Don't even think about buying a shower door from Lowes in Myrtle Beach!

2.6
Details
This is an unbelievable but true story. In October 2017 my wife and I bought a $300.00 shower door from Lowes. When we read the poor reviews online on the door, the next day we went back to Lowes and upgraded to a more expensive $700.00 door. We paid the $300 installation fee up front. A month later the installer came to install the door. We saw our new door in its box but parts were missing. Later, the installer returned and to our surprise he installed the first door not the upgraded door. We questioned him about the door but he said he was going to make it work and later we could have it done right. He also said the door we wanted would not work on our shower. We took pictures and returned to Lowes. The assistant manager and plumbing employee over doors said that we had the $300.00 door hanging on our shower. We asked where was the second door we bought and they couldn't find it. The installer quit! Next, we ordered another door to replace the missing door. The installer came out to measure the door and said nothing Lowes could order would fit on our shower and he said we should get our money back and buy our door directly from him as he had connections with better manufactures. We went into Lowes and showed them the door we wanted and said according to Kohler's manufacturing specs the door would fit find on our shower. They agreed to order the door and have the new installer put it on. I emailed the installer that I wanted to stay with Lowes because of their warranty but they would pay him to install the door. next, he quit! Lowes asked me if I wanted my money back as they didn't have anyone to install my new door. I asked them what was I to do with the cheap door they had on my shower. The manager said, "Oh, we can't give you your money back we will have to find someone to install the new door and take off the old door. This is now February, some five months later. Finally, I got tired of waiting on Lowes. I called them and said this: I will hire someone to take off the old door, come pickup the new door, and deliver the old door back to the store. All I want is my $300.00 installation fee returned to me as i have to hire someone to install and take down the old door and go back and forth to Lowes returning and picking up doors. It took five days for Lowes to finally approve this. They said there would be no warranty on the installation but the door only. I agreed. They said when I went to pickup the door they would have the cash for me at customer service. When I went to customer service they had a gift card for me but no cash. I had to wait for thirty minutes to finally get a manager to give me the cash instead of a gift card. When my handyman returned the door to Lowes I told him to be sure and get a receipt showing the door had been returned. He called me from the store and said the manager would not give him any type of receipt. Finally, the manager agreed to sign his own business card in case we have further problems. The bottom line is this: If you live in Myrtle Beach, SC you might want to check out Home Depot before going to Lowes. It took my builder four and a half months to build my house. Lowes never could put on a shower door. Larry Vaughn

This is all because the door installer got paid half as much on this Lowe's job that he would have made if you had dealt with him directly. Only an idiot or a *** desperate door installer would agree with Lowe's to do installs for them and make half their normal profit.

Lowes - Door Installation Review from Jenison, Michigan

2.9
Details
If you are ever considering shopping at Lowe's (specifically, the Lowe's of Grandville) , DON'T do it! Save yourself the hassle! My husband and I ordered a door in July and now we won't be getting it until October 27th because Lowe's doesn't understand customer service or: *How to contract competent installers (installer refuses to call us until 8pm or later after repeated requests to contact during NORMAL business hours). Or even how to contract their own brand of entry door manufacturers for that matter (purchased a custom Reliabilt door only to have it come in so warped it would not seal against the frame). We had to wait 2 weeks for an additional frame, only to have it sit at the store because the installer could not be reached So, beyond frustrsted with this place. The only reason we have an install date is because I had to call the installer and nag them myself, even though they have a whole department for that. We have an incident open, but we keep getting bounced around from one department to a CPO, then back again. So far, no resolution. It is very evident that not ONE person involved in our order cares to resolve this matter.
