Policy states that no gift card is be cashed out. Whether it is in store credit or a normal gift card.

Giving in store credit for an item returned without a receipt prevents thieves from walking away with cash.

Also, gift cards are not to be returned. You have thieves and people playing the system to blame for the inconveniences.

Lowes - Lowe's GE appliance rebate scan

1.7
Details
I purchased over $3000 worth of GE appliances and was supposed to get a measly $50 Lowe's gift card as a rebate. I ordered online so I submitted the paperwork the delivery people gave me as my receipt since I didn't actually get a regular receipt. A month later I was told I didn't qualify for the rebate because I didn't submit a qualifying receipt. I resubmitted with the original paperwork along with copy's of my online order from the my Lowes web sight where I ordered. I never heard anything else and when I called to check they said I still had not submitted a qualifying receipt and the deadline had passed so I cannot submit anything else and I don't get the rebate. I looked and found I spent over $5000 at Lowes personally this year and much more thru my company.

Lowes - Gift Card Review from Neptune Township, New Jersey

I'm not happy with Lowes bought 3 major appliances from them and the newest one only over a year by 3 weeks is giving problems. They sent someone out 2 days later and after he left it did it again. Please don't insult me with a $50 gift card cause doing laundry for 4 boys who play soccer leaves me an unsatisfied costumer ... And I have your extended warranty and instead all I bought was your HR departments list of things "the corporate spew " just look how much money ive spent in the past couple months and can continue to spend at your stores and I'll even throwback You $50 gift card to take your *** back and give me a new one I'm not my anscestors so beating clothes on rocks down the stream is not a rational thought soccer tournament this weekend washing machine by Friday so I'm set and I even buy a new dryer as good faith and I'm doing you a favor ! And you come out in the profit and well I get my laundry done and left happy! This isn't about money our free stuff it's my families happiness and peace of mind

Don't Buy a Lowes Gift Card

My Canadian general contractor company purchased several $500 Lowes gift cards at Christmas time to pass out to some of our subcontractors and employees as a way of saying "Thanks for another great year". To our surprise we found out that the gift cards are not usable for any online purchases. The Canadian website says Lowes has "Over 100,000 products" but approximately 33% are only available in store. This means the cards are no good for approx 66% of the items. When I went in to speak to a manager I asked if she could order in "online only" items from the website and have them delivered to our local store so that the cards could be used. She said that could not be done and agreed that I would have been better giving cash instead of Lowes gift cards …. NEVER AGAIN.

Lowes - Gift Card Review from Conway, Arkansas

Bought 440 square feet of vinyl planks for floors, only to find half way through the job 3 boxes were defective! They were different colors and would NOT stick.Went back with photos and asked what we should do, by their recommendations we glued the planks with a separate purchase of a glue they recommended! After a job that should have taken just hours, it took a week of replacing or repairing. We were also told to bring back the defective planks, so we did! Now...not only did this take much longer than it should have, now we have mismatched planks....The flooring manager after I showed him photos and what we had to go through just to finish this job, had the nerve to say that I WAS BEING DISHONEST on how many planks were defective! 3 boxes, all of which were bad got returned in pieces parts, because that's what it took to remove and replace them! They sell inferior product and then have the nerve to call ME dishonest! 2nd run in with dishonesty at lowes! The first time an appliance employees sold my daughter a water heater and overflow tank, the overflow tank couldn't be used so that got returned, only to be told it had already been returned and the amount was put on a Lowes gift card!. Long story short, turns out that appliance employee did it by showing in their system that it was returned and he collected a gift card! Shame on Lowes dirty practices!

Lowes in Drums, Pennsylvania - Sony gift cars

I orderd a gift card in July, 2013. It never arrived, although I had received these same cards in the past. I called twice, was told there was a disclaimer: if the card did not arrive at my mailbox, they have no responsibility to replace it, even though I was told by the first responder that the card had not been activated. The second responser said the card would be devalued August 16, 2013, but I still would not get my card, due to their disclaimer. I also paid 11.63 to have my order come to 6500 points. I believe there are numerous complaints like mine, and wonder if a class action lawsuit might encourage Sony to honor their cards.

Lowes in Boston, Massachusetts - Mislead

I will tell you that I bought a washing machine for 500 Dollars and was told their would be a $ 50.00 Dollar rebate and saw signs for the 50 Dollar rebate everywhere. Today I received a letter denying my claim for the rebate because it did not have a qualifying item on it. Really, really lame. I sure somewhere in the fine print I am not entitled to the rebate. The rebate was not a consideration in the purchase of the washing machine, but the rejection of the rebate has really put a negative view of Lowe's in my mind. so have fun with the Fifty Dollars and I will remember being mislead by your employees and your fine print whenever I drive by your stores. Save up to 20% on select major appliances $399 or more.* Get a Lowe's Gift Card $50 to $475 by mail with qualifying purchase.** Offer ends 7/9/13.

Please understand the store has zero control over the rebates which are from the manufactures. Not the store.

Perhaps if you had actually gone in to talk to a manager they would have taken fifty bucks off. Food for thought for next.

@Anonymous

The store is where the rebate has been offered. The store is using the rebate to make sales.

The sales people know what the policy of the rebates are. The store control is to

use this information the way they see fit.

Which is why I will vote with my feet and use establishments.

Lowes pre-paid gift cards on their time-frame not yours

A over a year ago, I spent over $6000 to install new french doors and storm doors--which you both, now, have passed through many times. As an incentive/inducement for the job, I was given a $400 pre-paid gift card. I was glad to get it and had plans to use it for the purchase of a new high efficiency heat pump water heater that I was going to purchase from Lowe's. I didn't even detach the card from the letter, placed it in a drawer, and looked forward to the purchase of water heater at a significant discount when I was ready for the project. Today, I tried to use the card and found it VALUELESS. . When I checked the www.myprepaid.info website, it gave me a terse message and an 800 number (1-800-731-3248). I called the number, after navigating the typical gauntlet of tele-prompts and speaking with a very apologetic customer service rep, I was told the card was VALUELESS. I had kept it past the expiration date, and there was nothing they could do. I then called Lowe's customer service number, explained the situation, was placed on hold, and then after a dropped call and a repeat explanation to another rep was given another 800 number (800-733-7152). That rep also told me the card was VALUELESS. I have attached two images of the letter and the card. I would like to draw your attention to the message HIDDEN under the card which I did not see until today--explaining that the card would not be replaced beyond the expiration date. I wonder how many other people have waited for a planned project and had the rug pulled out from under them as I have. I strongly support an investigation of practices of businesses using pre-paid cards to lure unsuspecting purchasers and then pulling the rug out from under them. This shady practice by LOWE's marketing screwed up my dream of getting rid of an ancient oil fired water heater and replacing it with a highly efficient heat pump, cheated me out of out of $400 and cheated the government of the sales tax.

I happen to work for Lowe's. I get so sick of people like you calling in and asking "I sat on this thing and never read it and I burned my receipt and I have my thumb up my $%&*@ also I use 10 different phone numbers and don't understand why I have so many records" and I, as an innocent customer care rep trying to earn a living, must listen to you gripe about how you totally failed to cover your own *** and it is now our fault.

CONSUMERS: PLEASE READ THE THINGS YOU ARE GIVEN. IF YOU RECEIVE A CHECK, CASH IT. IF YOU GET A CARD, CHECK FOR AN EXPIRATION DATE.

It's not a "trick" to specify that something will not be replaced past the expiration date...

in what world and at what place of business WILL they replace something past the expiration date? How- er- challenged are you that you didn't read the *** thing? It's four hundred dollars- for me that's enough money to pay attention to like a smart person. We're not here to wipe your butts if you won't even TRY to be an informed consumer.

Stop wasting our time and your money and we'll all be happier. I speak for all CSRs everywhere I'm sure, not just from the company I currently work for.

Nobody makes free money easy- that's why you have to be vigilant on your own behalf. No decently run company would do it for you.

Actually, you are wrong. The expiration date is NOT printed on the card at all.

The date is on the letter, BUT the card is intentionally placed OVER the date to obscure it.

Having worked in this kind of marketing before, the reason to obscure the date is so that people don't take the call of action to redeem the card--and when the card expires, it's the victim's fault--not the marketing perpetrator who keeps the redemption numbers low and cuts costs.

I fail to see how it's anyone's fault other then yours? You held on to the card past its expiration date.

Which I might add is very clearly printed on every single pre-paid credit card. Next time you will know better.

Lowes in Porterville, California - N. Davis

We purchased a new dishwasher a while back at the Tulare store and are very happy with it. As a thank you we received a gift card and then a thank you card with $10 of with $50.00 purchase. We were in the Porterville store and bought $60.00 plus in merchandise. My husband presented his military ID and the $10.00 card (which they rand through and deactivated. They did not give us our Military discount and said we could not use both. There was nothing on the card to indicate that. I thought the military discount was a thank you for those that have served our country. I hope that is not your policy or the way you treat veterans. Needless to say I will not shop at Lowes if that is the way they treat veterans.

You could of split your purchases. Walmart *** me off everytime I go to the store, but I still go. While you leave Lowes, someone pissed off at another home improvement store will take your place, so I'm sure you won't be missed.

I do not work for Lowes, but it has come to my attention that they only allow 1 discount to be used at a time. If you wanted to use the military 10% discount you could have, but you couldn't use the coupon.

However you're another one of those entitled idi0ts.... Menards the 3rd largest home improvement store in the United States stopped giving a military discount because they're not special! Eventually everyone becomes a senior citizen so you get those discounts... However, people like teachers/doctors/policemen/fireman they don't get a discount...

Military is a career choice nothing more...

I have coworkers who have been in the military and they think you people are STRAIGHT UP FOOLS! YOU DIDN'T JOIN THE D@MN MILITARY FOR A 10% DISCOUNT.....

Lowes - ONLINE ORDERING NIGHTMARE

My husband and I shop Lowes all the time for everything. On January 17th at 11 AM, we purchased 5 packages of insulation on line. We used the EBATES search engine to go to Lowes.com as we always do. As always we used gift cards that we had bought had Giant Eagle of Lancaster- we purchased two 100 cards. We went on vacation and when we returned, I called the Lancaster Lowes and asked how much longer for our order to arrive. i was then told there was no order for us... and our NIGHTMARE begins. The order was processed as Ebates has a record of my order.. what happened at Lowes. com who knows. When I went back into my personal account on Lowes .com the order was now still showing still in my basket with the gift cards (numbers were blocked out) applied and stating no balance due. I tried to complete the order and received an error to call customer service. I spent 2 HOURS with the customer rep as she put me on hold at least 1/2 dozen times. I told her I did not have the cards anymore as the order had processed on the 17th. She told me that even though my cart was showing gift cards were applied she could not process the order - she would need the gift card numbers. They would also not take my information from EBates that I had purchased the products on that date and I even had an EXACT TIME!!!. I again stated I had no idea how I was going to get them. She told me I would have to call my credit card company as well as Giant Eagle to see if I could get the numbers. She said once I did she could process the order. My husband was IRATE-- he then spent another HOUR on the phone with Crystal- a supervisor who reiterated that we needed to get the numbers. After many more hours of phone calls I was finally able to obtain the card numbers from Giant Eagle. We called back Lowes. com. NOW they stated they were not able to process the orders with the card numbers as they needed the pins!!!!! My husband and I were both so irate at this time....... we had spent OUR ENTIRE DAY trying to get an order that we had placed weeks ago and PAID FOR!!!!! Your system obviously has a major glitch. The customer service rep(above) stated she would forward the matter to Lancaster Lowes manager. Now, tonight I was on my computer and I remembered I had a password/ number saver installed and i was able to recover the Lowes cards numbers as well as the pin numbers !! So, I figured I would go ahead and just re do my order as I could not stand to be stressed, angered and dealt with so poorly by Lowes anymore..... BUT OF COURSE!!!! the cards are now showing they have NO BALANCE.... imagine that????? PROBABLY BECAUSE WE USED THEM ON JANUARY 17TH t TO PLACE THE ORIGINAL ORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Words can not even begin to describe how ANGRY I AM right now..... I will be forwarding this email to Better Business and any and everywhere I can. **** I want the products we ordered delivered to our home asap paid in full with the gift cards we PAID FOR. I also am requesting come compensation for the aggravation and completely POOR customer service.

Just so that I understand, you made a purchase online, paid(or tried to)for the order with gift cards that you bought from another party, and then get pissed at the local store because they don't know who you are or what you are talking about. To top it all off, you want Lowe's local store to complete an order that you say that you completed, using card numbers that they don't have and have no way to access the pin number that only you have. What could possibly go wrong?

they did NOT ask for bot product and gift card, just product paid for WITH the gift cards. DUH

I understand wanting to either receive your product or a refund of your gift cards, but not both. And what makes you feel entitled to additional compensation??

Because your day was ruined??

I've had plenty of nightmare phone calls to retailers, credit card companies, insurance companies, but never have I EVER felt entitled to more than what was necessary.
