You won't find a flooring company that doesn't add for waste. Rooms rarely measure out to exactly use 12" x 12" tiles perfectly.

Tiles get cut and the excess tossed out. What would happen if they used your 680 square feet and came up short? You'd have an unfinished floor while you wait for more tile to come. When it arrived it may not be a perfect match as it would be from a different lot.

You would wait to be re-scheduled for installation and face an extra charge for the installers having to return. I'd rather have a little material left over if it meant having the job done at once with materials that matched.

As a former Lowe's installer, I can say this post really isn't doing homeowner's any service. The reality is that Lowe's pays out of pocket to take care of so much stuff.

The installers often eat that cost, but customers are basically guaranteed satisfaction. In the rare instances they don't take this approach (pay out to make it go away), it's because there is literally no merit and it is obvious the customer is out to get free money. Anyone who works in construction, especially residential knows there is a lot of grey involved. Was that gutter damaged before we arrived?

Did that wall have that issue in that one corner of the house. There's literally so much to account for it results in a lot of grey. Therefore, it just comes down to good faith between the homeowner and the installer. We had to eat so much expense because customer's, who understandably don't understand the technical aspects of our trade, would complain and Lowe's just forced us to pay to make it go away.

I can't stress enough how much better off you are going with a larger company like Lowes. One, they will always be in business. Most service companies go out business after a few years. Two, they're such a large company, they just pay to make stuff go away.

Three, you're far more protected from a legal/insurance perspective.

This is probably the biggest advantage of Lowes or a bigger company than some small business. You're better off going with a large company, whether or not that's Lowes.

Lowe's doesn't have employees that do installations. They contract it out to a third party.

That third party is who your complaint is against, which is probably why they aren't dealing with you. If you sue them, you will lose. You need to sue the company that actually did the installation.

It's in your contract. Read it.

December 23, 2018 Lowes Manager Adam brought a set to my home, he then proceeded to install it incorrectly. Then they sent someone out he installed the dryer, that installation failed fire marshall inspection. I was promised my money back. Six months later I have 52 phone calls and emails from Lowes. They owe me $1,100. $300. Plus rebate cards. They have done nothing except put me off. To sum this up, I have a washer and dryer in my home I never chose, don't want and can't use because the dryer is a fire hazzard. Flirida Attorney will get a file report first thing Monday morning.
