Lowes - Installation Review from Uhrichsville, Ohio

Plumber raising cost of installing a water softener. We had an estimate from plumber that Lowes uses. Should have been $347 for unit, install the unit advertised at &168, plus a few parts and installation kit. They came up with $810. We cancelled our order. We bought the same unit, (had installation kit IN with the softened unit) bought a few pieces of plastic pipe and a couple of elbows, our installer wanted a bunch of unnecessary pieces until his labor doubled. My husband installed whole unit with 2 extra pieces of plastic. It took him about an hour and a half.

Lowes in Dayton, Ohio - Kitchen remodel disaster

Invested over $20,000 in a kitchen remodel and it has been a nightmare with this company. It has been 6 weeks and not even half done. Have not heard from anyone in over 2 weeks. Calls and emails go unreturned. Materials and tools sitting everywhere. Please be warned and stay away from this company. Our neighbors started same project with different company and have been using their kitchen for 10 days now. Lowes problem is that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. We are now searching for another contractor to get in here and finish the job.

This is what happens when you are too lazy to hire your own contractor. When you hire your own contractor you have the opportunity to check their references and get to know who will be working i n your home.

You also have control over the project and the ability to fire the contractor if you want. Instead you let a retail store pick the low price contractor to do the job. Yes Lowes makes a profit on what the contractor charges them.

It's in their best interest to find the lowest priced contractor to do the job and increase their profits. These profits could have been in your pockets if you had taken the time to find a reputable contractor on your own.

Lowes in Cincinnati, Ohio - No Organization!

I ordered a wood fence panel. It was a special order purchase and was told it will be 2 weeks. Ok that's fine. My receipt even states 7-7-2014 which is exactly 2 weeks also.. So on the 7th I walk in and ask for the panel. The lowes employee looks it up and tells me that it is has been set back 2 days so return on the 9th! Ok whatever So two days later I get a phone call sayin the wood panel is in. Come and pick it up. So after work I drive to the Lowes (btw you have to pick up special orders at customer service) walk in and ask for the panel. So now the kid working up front pulls up my info but has no idea where it's at.. A couple other employees that a look, make phone calls to lumber yard and no one answering. So he disappears and looks for the panel himself. 10 minutes later he returns and no panel! So what's going Lowes? I got a phone call saying it was in, I come to pick it up and nobody knows anything. Isn't there a special order items bin or area!? Who made that phone call? Did they acully physically unload and set this panel aside?? I'll be returning tomorrow and hopefully get my panel..

Lowes in Dayton, Ohio - Where is my delivery?

I decided to purchase a new microwave from Lowe's because they offered free delivery and haul away. So all day today I have stayed home waiting for the call that they are on their way. It is now 458 pm and still no show. I have called the manger on duty twice and both times he stated he would call me right back however he has failed to do so. This will be my last transaction with Lowe's as I have a Home Depot within a mile of my home that offers excellent customer service. I would have carted the microwave to the trash myself if I had known I was going to be put through a day of customer NO service.

Lowes in Alliance, Ohio - Discrepancy between website and in-store availability

We are in the market for a reel mower. I searched Lowe's website, and found the brand I wanted at a great price. Since the item was in-stock, according to Lowe's website, at only 1 local store, we called before making the 1/2 hour drive. The lawn/garden associate searched the floor and warehouse with no success. Just to see if the item was available for purchase, I went to Lowe's mobile site and placed the item in my cart for in-store pickup. I showed the associate my phone, and asked what they would have done if I'd paid for the item at home and found it was unavailable when I got to the store. He stated that he wasn't sure. Another associate chimed in and said he remembered selling the floor model at least one month prior to our visit. We went to the customer service desk where we were NOT greeted by the customer service rep (this is common in most retail stores, unfortunately). After explaining our situation, we were curtly informed that there is a day's difference between in-store availability and what is shown on the website, and that we should have asked for the item to be pulled from inventory before we came to the store. She seemed skeptical that we even found the item online, and asked to see it on my phone. We also explained that another associate said he sold the item over a month ago, which was ample time for the website to have been adjusted. She didn't offer us any alternatives or apologies for our inconvenience until I made a comment about the lack of concern for customer satisfaction on the part of many retailers, including Lowe's. She promptly cast the blame on the lawn and garden department staff, then offered to call a few other stores for us. We explained that there was no need for her to do so, because the website only showed availability at her store!

Lowes in Cleveland, Ohio - Terrible Store Manager

I went to the Lowe's on Iverson Way in Charlotte, NC and this manager name Bob was very rude and disrespectful. I was trying to return some product and everyone acted as if I stole something but the funny thing is I had my receipt. A white customer who was in line in front of me had no receipt and the product was use they gave him a refund with no questions asked. Here I am I had the product in the original packaging never opened, with the receipt within 90 days and they made me feel like I stole something. I will never shop at that Lowe's again. I am a hard working black women and I work hard for everything I own and I don't have to steal from anywhere. It's not like I came in the store looking like a ***. I was dress very business casual. I will take my business elsewhere.

That's not fair. At my store we treat everybody equally. We think everyone is a shoplifter that way everyone is equally offended.

Lowes in Dayton, Ohio - *** customer service

I purchased a ceiling fan and a light to have installed in my kitchen. We bought them on Monday. The installed sales dept. called that day and said our installer would call by Wed. When I had no call on Wed., I tried to call into the dept. but was put on hold for 15 minutes without anyone ever answering the phone in the dept. Then Thursday morning I called the store again. A very nice young man said I should have gotten a call already and he would take care of it. Eight hours and no call later, I called again. This time the woman on the phone gave every excuse out there, first blaming the contractor and then blaming her co-worker in the office. At 9:42 p.m., I got a call from the contractor. He cannot install them until next Thursday--10 days after purchase. I should have just hired an electrician on my own, but I thought by setting it up at Lowe's I was saving myself some hassle. Clearly that is not the case!

Lowes not honoring rebate

I bought a expensive dryer online at Lowes on 3/2/2013 order number 295135225 Total price was over 840 dollars. It was a Maytag Dryer -Model Med 7500 YW . A rebate was offered if you bought an appliance over a certain amount however they refused to honor the rebate. They rejected my rebate and did not send me notice. I only found out about calling them I will never shop at Lowes again. ( By the way the Dyrer is recommended but buy it at Home Depot -it had a lower price at Home Depot . I bought it at Lowes because with rebate it would have cheaper

Lowes in Elyria, Ohio - Simple Order Incompetence

I came into the Lowes in Elyria Ohio for a simple request. To exchange a bottle of Primo water. I had a manufacturers coupon FROM LOWES to get $5 off an EXCHANGE. First off, I waited in line to be told that I need to go to another register because they had to do a tax exempt for a welfare recipient. I went to another line and had to wait for the employee to figure out how to turn on the register, after he found the manager he had to cancel the previous transaction or something. After all of this, they told me they cannot use coupons with water exchanges. Why give coupons that you can't honor? Lowes, you just lost a long time customer over $5.

I have never heard of any type of welfare that is tax exempt. You more than likely misunderstood, in your anger. Non-profits get tax exempt status if it is for use in their agency, and people that are buying for resale, like in a concession stand or whatever are tax exempt.

Lowes in Columbus, Ohio - Where do I even start?

My first issue happened when I bought a can of black paint for an exterior door. I asked for it to be mixed black. He said he had to have a color swatch for it. It's black dude. You add black. Anyways, I bought it, sent it out to my contractors and they didn't use it because it looked purple. I brought it back and calmly asked for it to be remixed because it wasn't black. He promptly continued to tell me that they don't refund tinted paint. I said I didn't want a refund, I wanted my paint to be black like I asked the first time. He put a small dab on a piece of cardboard and dried it. He then showed it to me and said this is definitely black. Frustrated, I leave and go ahead and paint the door against my better judgement. It turned out to be blue. Next day, I go in to return some stuff that we didn't use on jobs. I walk up to the return desk and the lady asks if anybody saw me come in. How am I supposed to know? She continues to act suspicious and asks if I have a receipt. No I have a mylowes card I say. She puts the phone number in and says none of the stuff is on there and they won't return it without a receipt. Later I find out its because the cashiers have been using the wrong screen to enter the mylowes information. So now I have a bunch of stuff I can't return because I was told my stuff would be on a mylowes card and it's not. And just today I went to walk through a house that is supposed to be finished by Friday (2 days) and the walls are the wrong color because they sent me the wrong paint. My guys painted the entire house the wrong color. So now I have to waste more money and time fixing this problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place. AND I used to work at Lowes, so I know that getting things right isn't that difficult if people would actually do their jobs right. Needless to say, I am a bit frustrated with Lowes and am considering taking my business elsewhere.

I work at a Lowe's store and I know for a fact we take back almost anything. We recently took back a sump pump that we could never have sold.

It was made entirely of metal, no receipt, we just used an item number for a sump we presently sell and then through the pump into the trash compactor. Sure it was a loss for Lowe's but oh my we did make the customer happy.

Some of this return without a receipt stuff is actually theft.

I laughed very hard when you thought mixing black was as simple as putting black paint in. Watch the colors that go into mixing white once, you'll even see black go into that. :grin

if you worked at Lowes, you should know that they need a swatch with a number to enter in the paint machine so a formula can be made. You selected the paint color.

What does the paint in the rest of the house have to do with it?? You wanted black for the door, did you paint the whole house black.

If not, I'm sure you or someone else has selected that interior paint color. Sooo...get over yourself and quit blaming others for your lack of judgment in color.
