Lowes in Alliance, Ohio - Discrepancy between website and in-store availability
We are in the market for a reel mower. I searched Lowe's website, and found the brand I wanted at a great price. Since the item was in-stock, according to Lowe's website, at only 1 local store, we called before making the 1/2 hour drive. The lawn/garden associate searched the floor and warehouse with no success. Just to see if the item was available for purchase, I went to Lowe's mobile site and placed the item in my cart for in-store pickup. I showed the associate my phone, and asked what they would have done if I'd paid for the item at home and found it was unavailable when I got to the store. He stated that he wasn't sure. Another associate chimed in and said he remembered selling the floor model at least one month prior to our visit. We went to the customer service desk where we were NOT greeted by the customer service rep (this is common in most retail stores, unfortunately). After explaining our situation, we were curtly informed that there is a day's difference between in-store availability and what is shown on the website, and that we should have asked for the item to be pulled from inventory before we came to the store. She seemed skeptical that we even found the item online, and asked to see it on my phone. We also explained that another associate said he sold the item over a month ago, which was ample time for the website to have been adjusted. She didn't offer us any alternatives or apologies for our inconvenience until I made a comment about the lack of concern for customer satisfaction on the part of many retailers, including Lowe's. She promptly cast the blame on the lawn and garden department staff, then offered to call a few other stores for us. We explained that there was no need for her to do so, because the website only showed availability at her store!
Lowes in Columbus, Ohio - Lowe's Mail Order And Customer Service
Ordered several items from Afghanistan. Shipment arrived on two separate days. First shipment included an 18V Dewalt wet and dry vacuum...which evidently doesn't include the battery or charger unit. Doesn't do me much good in Afghanistan. Second part of order arrived next day. It included two Sylvania battery powered stickup lights. One didn't even have the pull tab to remove the tab that activates the battery, and the other one's pull tab broke as soon as I tried to remove it. Went to Lowe's website to try and find out about the vacuum battery/charger issue, and noticed there were two questions posted specifically asking about the same subject. I clicked the answer button and responded to both questions with the same answer. I told them that batteries and chargers were not included and I for one, had no intention of spending a minimum of $135.00 to get them when the vacuum was only $89.00 to begin with. I would throw it out first. I also sent customer service a message inquiring about their return policy. They refused to post my answer to the two questions, and gave me the following reply: Hello Jmclellen, Your opinion is very important to us and the Lowes community. We appreciate you taking the time to write an answer. Unfortunately your answer did not meet our guidelines for posting on our site. We encourage you to review our guidelines and resubmit your answer. Thanks for being an active member of the Lowes community. Sincerely, The Lowes Team I reviewed their guidelines, and found I had not violated any of them, so I have to conclude that Lowe's will not post anything that would reflect negatively on a product or service. So the consumer is left to "spin the wheel" and take their chances when they order anything through the mail order system. I have not received a reply from their customer service regarding their return policy. I guess I might as well toss the vacuum and the lights. That will be more than a $100.00 loss on a $190.00 order. I don't have a lot of choices here in Afghanistan, but, Home Depot, Menard's and Ace Hardware still have a shot at my business.
Lowes in Dayton, Ohio - Website
I often look to find items for my home; i feel your website is not user friendly. I wanted to look at the department that has doors; but i cant it will show me your adds only...you need to change this website so it is more user friendly. You are loosing a considerable amount of business that would come to your company by this site not allowing consumers to look at what they are looking for. Now i will only have two choices, Lowes & Home Depot. I feel that i could be driving 45 minutes to your store to purchas items if i could view them first. Please try to fix this.
