I bought a power washer in May and the first time I tried to use it it wouldn’t start, I tried to return it and was told they do not take power washers for any reason. I paid 280.00 for something I was never able to use.

Lowes stole my money. This is a ridiculous way for a large company to treat their customers

They should have cheerfully refunded your money!


They didn't steal your money. Manufactures of power equipment won't take it back from the stores as far to many consumers cause the problems they are having.

The manufacturers back their products with a warranty that will repair defective equipment at a service center. Take it to the service center and it will be repaired at no charge to you if it is actually defective. If the problem was caused by you (didn't put oil in it, used stale fuel, etc..) you will be charged. Don't blame the store for the problems consumers have caused by abusing return policies.

You will find this policy at most big box stores.

Your alternative is to go to a servicing dealer who will set the equipment up for you and show you how to start it and have it running before you leave their shop. Unfortunately you probably aren't willing to pay a little more for the service these dealers provide.
